Welcoming us, Mr. Ngoc enthusiastically told us about his journey from poverty to wealth with passion and pride. In 2017, after finishing his studies in agriculture, Ngoc returned to his hometown to find a job. At that time, Ngoc's family was a poor household in society. Seeing that his family's life was too difficult, Ngoc registered for the Central Youth Union's start-up program and was lent 50 million VND by the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP) to raise goats and bees.
Having just started a few years ago, when the Covid-19 pandemic hit, Ngoc tried every way to make ends meet and make ends meet to maintain the livestock farming. In 2022, after paying off the first loan, Ngoc was given another loan of 100 million by the Social Policy Bank. With the borrowed money, Ngoc mobilized and borrowed another 100 million from friends and relatives. With 200 million VND in hand, Ngoc began to expand the farming of buffalo, cows, pigs and chickens, and continued to raise goats and bees. Gradually, he and 12 members of the cooperative formed a model of both raising livestock and growing trees.
Currently, he has 5 hectares of forest land, planted with 2,500 mango trees, interspersed with chili, soapberry, and cassava to raise chickens. With about 3,000 black chickens, Ngoc's farm does not have enough supply, because when it is time to sell, there are people coming to buy them on site. Even the soapberry trees, although not yet ready for harvest, have been purchased by units.
The total value of his entire farm, including crops and livestock, is about 2.5 billion VND. Ngoc's cooperative currently has 3 products that meet OCOP standards, including 2 Ngoc Tuyen honey products and 1 black chicken product. The income of the 12 members of the cooperative is about 110 million VND/person per year. He also creates regular jobs for 6 workers, with a maximum salary of 6 million VND/month.
In particular, Ngoc also supported and helped Hau My Ho and Tao Thi Ban, a Mong couple in Cao Bang, with accommodation. Ho is a dialysis patient, but thanks to Ngoc's care and job creation, Ho and his wife have earned extra income and money for medical treatment.
From a poor household, Ngoc has helped her family and members of the cooperative have jobs and income, not only escaping poverty but also improving the material life of the people. Ngoc is one of the typical young people of the district. "I have today thanks to the first capital from the Social Policy Bank. For me and the members of the cooperative, credit capital from the Social Policy Bank is the motivation for members to rise up and escape poverty," Ngoc confided.
Responsibilities of party members
With his achievements, Ha Van Ngoc is honored to be in the Party. As an ethnic minority, he has risen out of poverty, become rich and been admitted to the Party. Besides the honor and pride, Ngoc also considers it a responsibility. With the motto "Party members go first, the country follows", Ngoc always tries to pave the way for the economy for his family as well as the members of the Cooperative; supports and guides many local people to do business.
Talking about the effectiveness of using policy loans, Director of the Social Policy Bank, Yen Minh District Branch, Do Van Hung, said: "The Social Policy Bank considers borrowers like Mr. Ngoc not only as members, but also as a trust for us to send humanistic values, thereby helping ethnic minorities in mountainous areas have the opportunity to escape poverty and become rich.
