Dak To (Kon Tum): Focus on developing party members in ethnic minority areas

In recent years, Dak To district (Kon Tum) has always paid attention to effectively implementing the work of developing party members in ethnic minority areas. Thereby, party members who are ethnic minorities have promoted their roles and responsibilities, being exemplary leaders in implementing the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, as well as developing the economy for the people to follow. On March 5, the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of Ho Chi Minh City held a conference to announce the Resolution on establishment and hand over the Decision on personnel work. On the afternoon of March 5, in Hanoi, the Government Office held a regular Government Press Conference for February 2025 to inform about the socio-economic situation in February and the first two months of the year, along with many important contents. Minister, Head of the Government Office Tran Van Son - Spokesperson of the Government, chaired the Press Conference. Living in the middle of the great forest, the Co Ho people still retain many rich, diverse and unique customs and traditions. This diversity is reflected in all aspects of life, from gong melodies, Yalyao melodies, Tam Pot songs, to traditional costumes, unique and different folk festivals. Gong culture and xoang dance are considered the "soul" of generations of ethnic minorities in Kon Tum province in particular and the Central Highlands region in general. In order to preserve the Central Highlands Gong Cultural Space, Kon Tum province has focused on bringing gongs and xoang dances into schools, to help the younger generation pay more attention to traditional culture. Implementing Resolution 18 of the 12th Party Central Committee "Some issues on continuing to innovate and reorganize the political system to be streamlined and operate effectively and efficiently", the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions has streamlined its organization and apparatus with a spirit of synchronization, determination, effectiveness and efficiency. The Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions was officially established and introduced to the people and voters nationwide on March 1, 2025. This is not only a milestone in the development journey of a Government agency but also a turning point in the State management of ethnic groups, beliefs and religions, carrying out a new mission to continue contributing to the development of the country firmly entering the era of growth. With the establishment of the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions under Resolution No. 176/2025/QH15 dated February 18, 2025 of the 15th National Assembly on the organizational structure of the Government for the 2021-2026 term, the Ethnic Minorities Committee (EC) has a new name and new tasks to meet the development requirements of the country in the era of growth. The glorious achievements in the 79-year journey (May 1946 - February 2025) of the Committee for Ethnic Minorities and Religions will be the foundation and motivation for the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions to continue to fulfill the mission assigned by the Party, State and People. This morning, March 5, the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of Ho Chi Minh City held a Conference to announce the Resolution on establishment and hand over the Decision on personnel work. The Giang Son worship ceremony is a mandatory ritual, taking place 3 times a year of the Chut ethnic group in Quang Binh. This is a cultural and religious activity that still retains the pristine and mysterious features of the Chut ethnic group in Quang Binh. With the advantage of fertile red basalt soil and mild climate, Huong Hoa district is considered the "capital" of coffee in Quang Tri province. In recent years, in the district, many groups of farmers, cooperatives, and cooperatives have appeared in association with coffee growers, especially the Bru Van Kieu people, to build a clean, closed coffee chain. Khe Sanh Agricultural Cooperative, directed by Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang, is a typical example. On Lam Vien Plateau, there are many works with unique architecture, conveying the culture and life of the local ethnic minorities. Ta Hine Parish Church is one of them. In recent years, Dak To district (Kon Tum) has always paid attention to effectively implementing the work of developing party members in ethnic minority areas. Thereby, ethnic minority party members have promoted their roles and responsibilities, being exemplary leaders in implementing the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, as well as developing the economy for the people to follow. The People's Committee of Nam Giang district (Quang Nam) has just issued a plan to develop garden economy and farm economy in 2025. In which, the district allocates a budget of about 10.9 billion VND to help many households develop their economy.


Ngoc Tu Commune, Dak To District has 6 villages with a population of nearly 4,000 people, over 98% of whom are ethnic minorities. During the 2020-2025 term, the Commune Party Committee directed Party cells to promote the work of creating sources for developing Party members, focusing on the force of union members and association members; the work of developing new Party members must be carried out closely, ensuring quantity and quality. From synchronous solutions, during the term, the Commune Party Committee admitted 33 Party members, of which 25 are ethnic minorities.

Mr. A Khiet, Secretary of the Party Committee of Ngoc Tu Commune, Dak To District, said: The Party Committee of the commune has issued a specialized resolution on developing party members, focusing on creating a source for developing party members who are ethnic minority youth and militia. At the same time, it directs associations and organizations to mobilize union members and members to actively participate in patriotic emulation movements, thereby selecting outstanding people, who are ethnic minority children who strive to be good, to introduce them to the party. Thanks to that, the work of developing party members always exceeds the set plan, currently the entire Party Committee of the commune has 144 party members and 6 villages all have grassroots party organizations.

Ms. Y Lim, a Party member of Dak Nu village Party cell, Ngoc Tu commune, Dak To district, shared: After a period of striving, in December 2024, I was honored to be admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam. As a Party member, I am an exemplary leader in all activities of the village and in developing the family economy. Currently, my family has planted 2 hectares of rubber and nearly 1 hectare of coffee intercropped with macadamia. In addition, I also mobilize households in the village to focus on changing their thinking, boldly applying scientific and technological advances in production to increase crop productivity.

During the 2020-2025 term, the Dak To District Party Committee set a target of admitting over 400 new party members. To achieve this target, right from the beginning of the term, the Dak To District Party Committee has focused on leading and directing Party committees and Party cells at all levels to focus on implementing the model of "4-good Party cells", "4-good grassroots Party organizations", with 3 groups of solutions on improving the leadership capacity and fighting strength of Party organizations and Party members in Party cells under the grassroots Party Committees; improving the effectiveness of propaganda and mobilization work and implementing well the work of creating sources for developing new Party members.

Mr. A Phuong, Secretary of the Dak Cho village Party Cell, Ngoc Tu commune, Dak To district, said: In the work of creating sources for developing party members, the Party Cell focuses on sources such as active union members and association members; soldiers who have completed their military service and returned to their localities; militia and self-defense forces, reserve forces; security and order protection forces at the grassroots level... From there, select outstanding people to introduce for the Party to consider training and admission.

With the close direction of the Party Committees at all levels, the work of recruiting Party members has been carried out effectively, ensuring quality. Since the beginning of the term, the Dak To District Party Committee has developed 347 Party members, of which 135 are ethnic minority Party members; bringing the total number of Party members to more than 2,258; 61/61 villages and hamlets have Party organizations.

Mr. Bui Tien Ly, Standing Deputy Secretary of Dak To District Party Committee, said: In recent times, Party Committees of communes and towns have had new and creative ways to create sources and develop Party members, especially Party members in ethnic minority areas, such as: Po Ko Commune Party Committee established an appraisal team to guide and write CVs; Dak To Town Party Committee assigned the Party Committee Office to guide and type CVs of outstanding ethnic minority people so that the outstanding people can write them themselves to reduce errors; Dak Tram Party Committee and Dien Binh Party Committee have strengthened the responsibility of Party Committee members in creating sources, helping, mobilizing, and guiding outstanding people to write CVs and strive to join the Party.

The results achieved in the work of developing party members in the ethnic minority areas of Dak To district in recent times have significantly contributed to building and consolidating the party organization, promoting the leadership role of the party cell in residential areas, maintaining political security, social order and safety, and building an increasingly strong great solidarity bloc of ethnic groups.

At the same time, it increasingly strengthens the trust of ethnic minorities in the Party and State, creating a combined strength to build Dak To district to develop rapidly and sustainably.
