The exact number of rhododendron species is difficult to determine and varies according to taxonomy. Currently, it is estimated that there are between 800 and more than 1,000 species of rhododendrons worldwide, distributed mainly in the high mountains of Asia, America and Europe. The diversity of flower shapes, colors and sizes makes their classification complicated. In Lai Chau province, statistics show that Lai Chau has more than 30 different rhododendron species.
