On the morning of July 18, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Van Hieu chaired a meeting to provide additional information on the results of the 2024 high school graduation exam in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to the results announced by the Ministry of Education and Training on July 17, 2024, Ho Chi Minh City has a high school graduation rate of 99.68%.
Compared to 2023 and 2022, this rate is 0.02% higher than 2023 and 0.16% higher than 2022.
Through analysis of the high school graduation exam score distribution, it shows that the high school graduation exam results are not high, ranking 20th out of 63 provinces and cities.
Explaining why Ho Chi Minh City is the leading locality in the country in innovating teaching methods, but its exam results only rank 20th out of 63 provinces and cities. The Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City said: “It is normal that Ho Chi Minh City only ranks 20th in high school graduation exam results. Because Ho Chi Minh City has long been innovating teaching methods, testing and evaluating students in the direction of developing students' qualities and abilities. Meanwhile, the high school graduation exam is an exam according to the old program and is for students nationwide. Not only this year, but for many years, Ho Chi Minh City has not been the locality with the highest graduation exam results in the country.”
However, Ho Chi Minh City has the highest average English score in the country. This is the 8th year that Ho Chi Minh City has held the leading position in the English high school graduation exam.
In addition, Math also has the third highest average score in the country.
For the 2024 high school graduation exam, Ho Chi Minh City will organize 162 exam sites. The city has mobilized 11,796 exam invigilators and nearly 3,300 officers and employees to provide services at the exam sites.
