In the excitement, honor, mixed with a bit of reluctance and regret when saying goodbye to relatives and friends, on the morning of February 14, more than 4,000 party members and outstanding young people in Thanh Hoa province enlisted in the Army and Police units. Fresh bouquets of flowers, meaningful gifts and warm feelings from the Party Committee, government and people for the new recruits have given the young soldiers more motivation to strive to excellently fulfill their sacred mission for the Fatherland.

In the bustling spring morning, at the military enlistment points in 26 districts, towns and cities in the province, flags, banners, slogans and welcoming music were brightly lit. Thousands of young men put on their backpacks and neat military uniforms, proudly attending the military enlistment ceremonies in the localities. Although it lasted less than an hour, the military enlistment ceremony atmosphere throughout Thanh Hoa was solemn, safe and full of military-civilian affection.

In Thanh Hoa City, people flocked to Lam Son Square to attend the military enlistment ceremony. In 2025, the city will have 255 new recruits joining the army in 7 units, of which 162 are party members. With excitement and pride, party member Nguyen Van Thanh in Ngoc Trao Ward excitedly shared: “After graduating from Thanh Hoa Medical College, I volunteered to join the army. Before joining the army, I was very honored to join the Party. That is the motivation for me to strive to train well, strictly abide by military discipline and continuously study to improve my qualifications to meet the requirements and tasks of protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.”

Lighting the traditional fire, beating the drum to open the military enlistment ceremony and speaking to the new recruits leaving for military service, Chairman of the People's Committee, Chairman of the Military Service Council of Thanh Hoa City Le Trong Thu believes that "With the ambition and aspiration of youth, the new recruits will be fully aware of their responsibilities and obligations to the Fatherland; continue to promote the traditions of previous generations, do their best to continue writing the glorious history, the heroic tradition of the Vietnam People's Army, the Vietnam People's Public Security and the heroic homeland of Thanh Hoa City".

The Chairman of the City People's Committee wished the new recruits good health, excellent performance in their duties, and becoming people who are both red and professional, loyal and devoted. Joining the crowd, the military enlistment atmosphere at Quang Xuong District Stadium was bustling and emotional. In new uniforms, new backpacks, with steady steps, the new recruits of Quang Xuong District excitedly smiled and waved to their relatives and friends. The farewell hugs, thoughtful advice, and tears of farewell from their relatives seemed to give the new recruits more motivation to confidently leave for military service.

“Goodbye mom, I'm going”, “Hello hometown, we're on our way”, “See you again”... Those are the emotional greetings that the outstanding young men of Yen Dinh district sent to their relatives before getting on the bus to return to their units.

Saying goodbye to her eldest grandson who was leaving for the army with pride, Mrs. Trinh Thi Ngan in Quy Loc commune - grandmother of new recruit Nguyen Van Bien, tearfully shared: “There is no place for the children to learn discipline, demonstrate courage and strong will than the military environment. Therefore, the family always encourages the children to complete their tasks well by studying and training themselves. The knowledge and dreams of the children will be written by the steadfastness from the days of being trained in the military environment. The will and determination of today will be the luggage to help them overcome all difficulties and challenges, and fulfill their sacred duty to the Fatherland.”

Excitedly and emotionally seeing off the outstanding young men of Yen Dinh to join the army, Chairman of Yen Dinh District People's Committee Pham Tien Dung said: "Over the years, the work of selecting and calling citizens to join the army of the district has always met the assigned targets, the quality of young men joining the army has been increasingly improved. Among them, many comrades have become officers and professional soldiers serving long-term in the army. After completing their service, those comrades who returned to their localities have actively participated in work, labor, production, economic development, contributing to the development of Yen Dinh homeland."

New recruits from Sam Son City excitedly got on the bus to return to their unit.

The bustling and exciting atmosphere mixed with lingering and lingering emotions was the general atmosphere that we felt during the military enlistment festival taking place in the coastal city of Sam Son. In 2025, Sam Son City had 91 new recruits enlisting, including 80 young men joining the military service and 11 young men joining the People's Public Security service. The new recruits all had a cultural level of high school or higher, many of whom had graduated from university or college, and were in good health and had good political and moral qualities. Thanks to the participation of the entire political system and experience from previous military recruitment seasons, the work of selecting and calling citizens to join the army in 2025 in Sam Son City achieved good results.

We met new recruit Truong Van Thai in Quang Cu ward - a 19-year-old boy being advised by his parents before leaving. Thai expressed: "With the spirit of volunteerism and initiative of youth, I believe that I will soon adapt to the new environment, strictly follow military discipline, and contribute to building a strong and comprehensive unit. I would like to thank the Party Committee and authorities at all levels for their concern, encouragement, and gifts before leaving for our mission."

Present at the military handover ceremony of Ba Thuoc district at 7 am, the first thing we felt was that along the roads leading to the district stadium, flags, banners, and slogans were hung brightly, making the atmosphere of the military handover ceremony even more exciting. In the stadium, new recruits, dressed in uniforms that still smelled of new fabric, lined up neatly, waiting for the moment to get on the bus to their units.

Standing in the line of people seeing her son off to join the army, Ms. Ha Thi Lai in Co Lung commune - mother of new recruit Lo Quang Vinh - watched her son with emotion. She said: "When my son wrote a volunteer application to join the army, my family was very supportive because we knew that the military environment would be a place to help him train, mature and become more confident. I feel a bit sad and miss him when I have to leave him, but my family will always encourage him to have more motivation to fulfill his civic duty well."

New recruits of Ba Thuoc district say goodbye to relatives and friends before leaving for duty.

In 2025, Ba Thuoc district had 179 young people joining the army, of which 60 excellent young people had attended a Party awareness training class, and 4 excellent young people had been admitted to the Party before joining the army.

Sharing with us, Lieutenant Colonel Van Hung Quang, Deputy Commander of the Military Command of Ba Thuoc district, said: “In order for the selection of citizens to join the army to be carried out in accordance with regulations, ensuring democracy, objectivity, fairness and improving the quality of citizen selection, the District Military Command and the District Military Service Council have coordinated with local authorities to review and grasp young people of military age; step up propaganda and dissemination of the Law on Military Service and develop implementation plans for communes and towns to organize preliminary selection at the commune level and medical examination at the district level to select young people who meet the health and qualification requirements. The District Military Command also advises the District Party Committee, the District People's Committee, the District Police and communes and towns to manage young people who have passed the military service exam; coordinate with localities to meet, give gifts, and give savings books to encourage new recruits to feel secure when joining the army”.

New recruits from Nhu Thanh district are ready to join the army.

In 2025, Thanh Hoa province was assigned by the Government to select 4,139 citizens to join the army. Of these, 3,652 citizens will perform military service, 487 citizens will join the People's Public Security service. Citizens joining the Army will be assigned to 14 military reception centers of the Ministry of National Defense. The encouraging thing is that, among the citizens joining the army this time, the number of party members is much higher than in previous years with 839 comrades, accounting for 22.9%; 726 young people have participated in the party sympathy training class; nearly 700 young people have written applications to volunteer for the army. The proportion of high school graduates is 66.8%, the proportion of university, college and vocational school graduates is nearly 6%; the proportion of ethnic minority youth joining the army is 29.24%.

With a spirit of urgency and seriousness, the military handover ceremony in localities in Thanh Hoa province was a great success. The new recruits boarded the bus to return to their units excitedly and proudly following the glorious tradition of their heroic homeland Thanh, striving to study and train to become exemplary soldiers of the People's Army and the People's Public Security of Vietnam.
