Yen Bai - Thanks to the organic farming orientation since its establishment, many cooperatives of farmers in Tran Yen district have created many quality, environmentally friendly products, consumed domestically and exported, increasing product value and income for farmers.

Promoting the local potential, Tuyet Chinh Organic Cooperative, Minh Quan Commune was established in August 2024 with 7 members specializing in growing and purchasing organic cinnamon products. The members have applied organic production methods to cinnamon growing from seed selection, fertilization, care, weeding to harvesting.
Instead of using chemical fertilizers and pesticides, when applying organic farming, members have chosen seedlings with guaranteed quality genes. The farming process mainly follows nature, applying organic fertilizers or letting cinnamon trees grow on their own, only handling weeds manually or by machine.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tiem, a member of the cooperative, shared: "Since producing cinnamon using organic methods, we have been very assured because production using this method reduces environmental pollution, ensures the health of the community, and cinnamon products are favored by customers. The cooperative currently has 300 hectares of organic cinnamon, purchasing over 100 tons of cinnamon of all kinds each month, bringing in an average income of over 100 million VND/member/year, the products are mainly supplied to companies in Bac Ninh."
Currently, the total area of cinnamon produced organically by Minh Quan Commune Farmers' Association members is 700 hectares, yielding over 1,150 tons of dried cinnamon bark and 25,000 tons of cinnamon leaves each year. Taking the initiative in seedlings, the Commune Farmers' Association propagates and mobilizes members to build new and expand 4 nurseries; establish 4 cooperative groups to produce clean seedlings to serve people inside and outside the commune.
Not only in Minh Quan commune, Thanh Thinh commune currently has 2 cooperatives that have implemented organic production that is beneficial to health. Tien Thanh T&T Cooperative was established in June 2023, the predecessor is the Develope Medicinal Materials Cooperative with 7 members.
With the goal of providing clean, safe herbal and agricultural products to consumers and increasing income for members, the Cooperative has expanded the area of medicinal plants to over 21 hectares with plants such as: velvet anise, turmeric, perilla, ginger, etc. The Cooperative has also invested in an automatic tea bag packing machine. The Cooperative's velvet anise tea product has achieved a 3-star OCOP product, generating income of hundreds of millions of VND/member/year.
Ms. Tran Thi Hien - Director of the Cooperative said: "As an organic product, our two main products, Khoi Nhung Tea and Perilla Tea Bags, are favored and trusted by customers in and outside the province."
Along with that, Thanh Thinh commune also has the Vietnam Cinnamon Cooperative with 22 members specializing in the production and export of cinnamon that has achieved international organic certification. The cooperative's products include cinnamon powder, cinnamon sticks, cinnamon sticks, cinnamon essential oil... exported to high-end markets such as: America, France, Germany, Netherlands, Japan, Korea...
Currently, Thanh Thinh has over 674 hectares of cinnamon produced in an organic direction, and all participating members have scientific and technical knowledge of organic production. In 2024, the cooperative processed over 400 tons of cinnamon, 200 tons of star anise and other spices, achieving a revenue of over 36 billion VND, contributing to improving the quality of life of members with an average income of 170 million VND/person/year; creating jobs for 60 workers with an average income of 6.5 million VND/person/month.
Organic farming brings many benefits to consumers and producers, helping to maintain and preserve soil fertility, develop sustainable agriculture, and cause less water pollution. Tran Yen is a locality with great potential for organic production, people have begun to know about organic production, producing safe products for users.
Supporting farmer members to produce in an organic direction, Mr. Ngo Thanh Son - Vice Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Tran Yen district said: "In the past time, the Farmers' Association of the district has coordinated to organize 16 training courses to raise awareness for farmers about sustainable agricultural production, preserving the ecological environment through organic agricultural production; supporting members to access knowledge, production processes, access markets, find product outlets; supporting people to promote products, promote business activities on digital platforms, put products on e-commerce platforms... Thanks to that, up to now, Tran Yen has 7 cooperatives, 16 cooperative groups of farmer members producing in an organic direction, increasing the value of products for farmers, contributing to the development of the agricultural economy, bringing the average income per capita to 58.8 million VND, the poverty rate reduced to 0.76%".
In the coming time, the Farmers' Association of Tran Yen district will continue to carry out activities and connect with international organizations through the Provincial Farmers' Association, helping farmers change their agricultural production mindset, contributing to protecting the living environment, increasing product value, and sustainably reducing poverty through organic production methods.
