At the Government Standing Committee meeting with businesses, THACO Chairman of the Board of Directors said that THACO will focus on participating in urban railway construction, especially train cars and steel components.
On February 10, 2025, the Government Standing Committee held a Spring Meeting with businesses with the theme "Tasks and solutions for private enterprises to accelerate and make breakthroughs, contributing to the rapid and sustainable development of the country in the new era". The Conference was attended by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Deputy Prime Ministers, leaders of ministries, branches and many private economic groups.
In his opening speech at the Conference, the Prime Minister stated that in 2025, the Government set a target of GDP growth of at least 8% to create momentum, create force, and create momentum for the following years to achieve double-digit growth. To achieve this, the contribution of the business community, especially large enterprises, is needed. Appreciating the efforts and achievements of private enterprises, the Prime Minister asked enterprises to participate in major State projects. In particular, THACO Group was assigned by the Prime Minister to research, transfer technology, produce train cars and move towards producing locomotives for the North-South high-speed railway.
In response to the Prime Minister's directions and instructions, THACO Chairman Tran Ba Duong said: “We will participate in urban railway construction, especially train cars and steel components. With our team of engineers and experience in product research and development, international cooperation, we will have reasonable technology transfer, organize on-site production to reduce costs; at the same time, there will be the participation of Vietnamese enterprises, responsible for quality and cost issues. We will promote cooperation through large projects, helping small and medium enterprises participate in the production chain, as well as linking to order steel manufactured according to product standards.”
In addition, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of THACO also presented a report on the production and business activities of THACO and its subsidiaries in 2024, and development orientations in the new period. Specifically, in the automobile sector , meeting the localization rate requirements (passenger cars reaching 27-40%, trucks reaching over 50%, buses reaching over 70%), thereby reducing costs and especially meeting the specific requirements of customers as well as conditions of use in Vietnam; forming a foundation for both product research and development and production organization. In the field of mechanics - supporting industry , participating in the global value chain in mechanical manufacturing, starting the construction of the Mechanical and Supporting Industrial Park in Binh Duong with a scale of more than 700 hectares in September 2025. In the agricultural sector , forming a large-scale, integrated/circular agricultural production model on an organic basis in Cambodia and Laos; At the same time, THACO takes responsibility for forming an agricultural production model in the Vietnamese Central Highlands.
In the field of logistics , invest in two ships with a capacity of 1,800 TEU/ship to connect from Chu Lai directly to Shanghai, from there to Europe, America, North China, Korea, Japan, optimizing logistics costs in the Central region, equivalent to the two regions of the South and North. In the field of investment - construction , complete Ba Son bridge, connecting from the center of Ho Chi Minh City to Thu Thiem, basically complete 4 routes, strengthen anti-waste to accelerate infrastructure development and exploit land funds; in the field of trade - services , continue to invest in developing commercial real estate complex projects according to the strategic model "One destination - Many utilities and services".
With a solid foundation, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of THACO pledged to take advantage of multi-industry strengths to develop transport infrastructure, support small and medium enterprises to participate in the value chain, and contribute to sustainable economic development.
