Tran Yen strives to plant and renovate 150 hectares of mulberry by 2025

Yen Bai - In 2025, Tran Yen district will continue to maintain and develop specialized raw material areas with key products and specialties associated with value chains. In particular: the district strives to plant 100 hectares of new mulberry, renovate 50 hectares of mulberry, bringing the total mulberry area of ​​the district to over 1,100 hectares, and silkworm cocoon output to 1,800 tons.

To achieve this goal, the specialized departments have consulted with the District People's Committee to adjust the planning of land for growing mulberry and raising silkworms, creating concentrated mulberry growing areas. Selecting mulberry varieties with high productivity and yield for planting; improving the quality of silkworm raising, especially concentrated silkworm raising to create the highest efficiency.

The district also directed specialized departments to implement solutions to support units and enterprises to promote the effectiveness of the value chain in mulberry cultivation, silkworm breeding, silkworm processing, and silk reeling, such as: linking cooperatives in mulberry cultivation and silkworm breeding; supplying good silkworm breeds; purchasing silkworm cocoons; sharing experiences with households and localities that have just started participating in the mulberry cultivation and silkworm breeding program according to the value chain; increasing technical support for cooperatives and mulberry growing households to improve the yield and quality of cocoons.

At the same time, further promote the role of Yen Bai Mulberry and Silk Joint Stock Company in purchasing cocoons at stable prices, assigning staff to directly guide the harvesting of cocoons to meet the requirements of the factory; paying the people for the sale of cocoons promptly and fully...

Up to now, the whole district has newly planted over 72 hectares, reaching 72.8% of the plan. Localities with high newly planted areas include: Tan Dong, Bao Dap, Y Can, Quy Mong, Minh Quan, Thanh Thinh...

It is known that in 2024, Tran Yen will be the locality with the largest mulberry area in Yen Bai province with nearly 1,000 hectares, 1,500 silkworm raising households, and an average product value of 300 million VND/ha. The whole district currently has 25 concentrated silkworm raising facilities and 1,600 large silkworm raising households; 15 cooperatives have been established, over 100 cooperative groups with more than 1,100 members. In addition, 12 chains have been built between cooperatives and Yen Bai Silk Joint Stock Company to produce and purchase silkworm cocoons and silk reeling products.
