The information was stated by Director of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Lam Dinh Thang at the meeting on the socio-economic situation in February of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on February 28.
Mr. Lam Dinh Thang said that in preparing human resources for the city in the future, Ho Chi Minh City is currently implementing many solutions to train on semiconductor chips. The city is discussing with the High-Tech Park (SHTP) that in the near future, all units that have training on semiconductor design will be gathered to synthesize into a large program of the city, at the same time, systematize the human resources that the city can invest in annually and provide to businesses in the semiconductor field.

Notably, the Department of Science and Technology also advised the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City on the plan to train on artificial intelligence (AI) for officials, civil servants and public employees of the city. Accordingly, it will update new technologies in current conditions for the team; on the other hand, this contributes to increasing labor productivity (with the goal of increasing by 7.5%).
According to Mr. Thang, Ho Chi Minh City will support Viettel Group to start construction of a Data Center in Cu Chi District (expected at the end of March) to promote the city's technology ecosystem. At the same time, it will speed up the procedures for building a new centralized IT Park.
In addition, the Department of Science and Technology will also advise on organizing a workshop on developing the digital economy in Ho Chi Minh City to contribute more in-depth solutions from experts to promote the development of the digital economy in Ho Chi Minh City to reach the target of 25% in 2025.
Regarding the construction of a multi-purpose technology center, Director of the Department of Science and Technology Lam Dinh Thang said that Ho Chi Minh City is currently planning to build new concentrated technology zones. To carry out this task, Mr. Thang proposed implementing it in three directions.

Accordingly, the Office of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the Department of Science and Technology and the Ho Chi Minh City Digital Transformation Center will immediately implement an operation center in a specific room at the headquarters of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee. Thereby, helping the Standing Committee of the People's Committee to operate the city based on data, based on GIS maps by synthesizing data from sectors, localities and the administrative and enforcement system that the city currently has.
On the other hand, Ho Chi Minh City currently has many concentrated technology zones in the area (such as Quang Trung Software Technology Park, SHTP) and will form multi-purpose content groups in these zones. In addition, it is possible to expand some new concentrated information technology zones in some locations in districts.
Formation of Can Gio National Tourist Area
Also at the meeting, Director of the Department of Tourism Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa said that the city's tourism industry is implementing a project to develop Ho Chi Minh City tourism until 2030, first of all, holding a conference to implement the plan for the period 2025 - 2026. Thereby, focusing on calling for the participation of the tourism ecosystem in two tasks: building and forming the Can Gio National Tourist Area and the National Tourist Area along the Saigon River.

According to Ms. Hoa, in addition to implementing the project, the unit is collecting opinions from departments and branches to submit to the People's Committee and People's Council of Ho Chi Minh City on support policies such as attracting tourists, training tour guides in markets and promotional activities. Along with that, the department is also working with experts on policies to create breakthroughs in regional connectivity, promote green tourism and apply specific mechanisms from Resolution 98 for implementation.
According to the tourism system planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2045, the whole country has 61 potential locations to develop into national tourist areas, including Can Gio district of Ho Chi Minh City.
