The office of South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol said that Mr. Yoon and first lady Kim Keon Hee arrived in Ukraine on July 15 after going to Lithuania to attend the NATO summit and paying an official visit to Poland.
This is his first visit since the Russia-Ukraine conflict broke out in late February 2022.
“The president inspected the massacre sites in Bucha near Kyiv and Irpin, where multiple rocket attacks focused on civilian residential areas took place,” the South Korean presidential office said.

“President Yoon will visit the memorial for those who died in the conflict to lay a wreath and hold a summit with President Zelensky,” the South Korean presidential office added in a statement.
The South Korean leader is expected to hold talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky later on July 15, said Kim Eun-hye, a senior adviser to Yoon on press affairs.
Mr. Yoon and Mr. Zelensky met in May on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Hiroshima, Japan. Mr. Yoon’s office said at the time that Mr. Zelensky thanked South Korea for humanitarian shipments of medicine, computers and generators and asked for more non-lethal supplies.
The two leaders also agreed to cooperate to support South Korean companies participating in post-conflict reconstruction projects in Ukraine, according to Yoon's office.
