In order to develop union members and build an increasingly strong union organization, the Hai Duong Provincial Federation of Labor is currently directly managing 20 grassroots unions. From the beginning of the year to the end of August 2024, the Hai Duong Provincial Federation of Labor established 54 grassroots unions. Of which, 33 grassroots unions have 25 or more workers. 35,585 union members were admitted. Of which, 32,950 union members were admitted to existing grassroots unions, 2,635 union members were admitted to newly established grassroots unions, reaching 92% of the plan assigned by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in 2024. During the 2023 - 2028 term, the Hai Duong Provincial Federation of Labor strives to increase the number of union members by 60,000, and 85% of enterprises with 20 or more employees will establish a union organization. Annually, complete and exceed the targets of union member development and establishment of grassroots trade unions assigned by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
In Hung Yen province, according to Mr. Le Quang Toan - Chairman of the Hung Yen Provincial Federation of Labor, as of August 2024, the Provincial Federation of Labor managed 1,639 grassroots unions, an increase of nearly 30,000 union members compared to 2018. With effective measures, from the beginning of the year until now, the whole Hung Yen province has developed 8,792 new union members. The actual increase in union members was 5,464 union members, reaching 27.6% compared to the target assigned by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and reaching 27.3% compared to the plan built by the Provincial Federation of Labor. The whole province has newly established 59 grassroots unions, of which 7 were newly established in the foreign-invested enterprise sector (FDI); 51 newly established grassroots unions in private economic units, reaching 85% of the target assigned by the Hung Yen Provincial Party Committee...
Like many other localities in the country that are promoting the development of union members and the establishment of grassroots unions, the Thai Nguyen Provincial Federation of Labor also offers solutions to attract union members and workers to participate in the Trade Union organization. With the motto "Where there are workers, there is a Trade Union organization", in the first 6 months of 2024, the whole Thai Nguyen province has recruited over 10,000 union members, established 23 new grassroots unions, bringing the number of grassroots unions in the province to over 1,400 grassroots unions with approximately 158,000 union members.
Mr. Doan Manh Thang - Vice Chairman of Thai Nguyen Provincial Federation of Labor said that in the past time, the Provincial Federation of Labor has assigned working groups to go to the grassroots level to guide, assist, and directly propagate and mobilize employees and employers in enterprises. There are enterprises that may have to go to the grassroots level 3-4 times to establish a grassroots trade union. Therefore, in the coming time, trade unions at all levels in the province will continue to promote propaganda and mobilization so that business owners can promote the establishment of grassroots trade unions. In addition, it is necessary to continue to innovate the content and methods, improve the quality of trade union activities; focus on implementing activities to protect the legitimate and legal rights and interests of workers. Thereby attracting workers to participate in the trade union organization proactively and voluntarily.
Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor said that all levels of Trade Unions across the country are making great efforts to implement the goals and targets of developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions. Realizing that developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions are important tasks, the Confederations of Labor of provinces and cities are making efforts to overcome difficulties, applying many new methods, and coordinating with the political system to attract workers to participate in the Trade Union organization more strongly.
Along with the efforts of the Union officials from the Central to the grassroots level, the work of developing union members is increasingly focused on to improve the quality of activities. From there, it contributes to building an increasingly strong Union organization.
