In recent years, the authorities of Phu Ninh district, Quang Nam province have focused on implementing many measures to improve the quality of life for people, ensure social security; mobilize and effectively use human resources to serve the socio-economic development process in the area.
Support for new construction and home repair
The house of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Cam (69 years old), in Phu Thinh town, Phu Ninh district, has deteriorated after many years of construction, posing a potential risk of being unsafe during the rainy and stormy season. In mid-May 2024, Mrs. Cam and her husband were able to build a new house when they were approved for support for repairs according to Resolution No. 13 dated September 22, 2023 of the Provincial People's Council (support for eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the province in the period of 2023-2025).
Ms. Cam shared: “My children are very excited to be considered for support to repair the house, helping to raise more money to encourage their parents to build a solid house, ensuring a place of worship and no longer worrying when storms come. My family worships my father, who is a martyr, and I myself am also a person with revolutionary contributions.”
Also a meritorious person, Ms. Truong Thi Hoa, in Phu Thinh town, was supported with 60 million VND to build a new house according to Resolution No. 13 of the Provincial People's Council. Up to now, the house is in the completion stage.
Ms. Hoa said: “Along with this support money, my children contributed about 30 million VND to build a house for their mother. At my old age, my wish has been fulfilled when the State supported me to rebuild a solid house to live in.”
According to the report of the People's Committee of Phu Ninh district, after 3 years (2021-2023) of implementing sustainable poverty reduction work associated with the movement "Phu Ninh joins hands for the poor - No one is left behind", the district still has 447 poor households, accounting for 1.93% and 288 poor households, accounting for 1.24%.
In the past 3 years, the locality has resolved the regime for 2,391 children, pupils and students with a total cost of nearly 1.7 billion VND; made a list and issued 2,887 health insurance cards for poor and near-poor households. There are 9,858 people borrowing capital from the district Social Policy Bank with a total outstanding debt of nearly 343.8 billion VND. From the Relief Fund, the Fund for the Poor of the province, district and commune has supported the construction of 117 houses for poor households, near-poor households and households in especially difficult circumstances with a total cost of nearly 4.8 billion VND;...
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Van, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Phu Ninh district, said that in recent years, from the district to the grassroots level, we have focused on mobilizing and receiving support from enormous material and spiritual resources to join hands to help families with meritorious services to the country, poor and near-poor households, and households in especially difficult circumstances to improve their housing conditions and improve their lives. Thanks to that, many temporary and dilapidated houses have been supported to be rebuilt and repaired; hundreds of difficult and unfortunate cases have been supported in their lives and livelihoods. Thereby, contributing to the goal of poverty reduction and ensuring social security.
Maintain new rural district
Mr. Huynh Xuan Chinh, Chairman of Phu Ninh District People's Committee, said that in 2010, Phu Ninh was honored to be selected by the Central Steering Committee as one of the five pilot districts for new rural construction (NTM) nationwide. In 2015, Phu Ninh was recognized as a district that met the NTM district standards. By the end of 2024, the district will continue to maintain and uphold the criteria for meeting the NTM district standards; 32/48 villages will meet the NTM model village standards. If in 2005, the district's poverty rate was over 23%, after 20 years, the entire district has 1.8%, and near-poor households have 1.31%.
Average income per capita reached 60 million VND/person/year, an increase of more than 18 times compared to the first year of establishment. The value of technology, trade and services accounted for nearly 85%, economic revenue increased 37 times compared to before. Currently, the district has 4 industrial clusters with a scale of over 46 hectares, attracting nearly 35 enterprises to invest, develop production, and create jobs for over 4,000 workers.
Mr. Huynh Xuan Chinh added that currently, the socio-economic infrastructure system in Phu Ninh district has been invested in relatively synchronously, meeting the needs of the people better and better. Up to now, the district has had 100% of communal roads, inter-communal roads, and village roads asphalted and concreted, more than 90% of alleys and hamlets concreted and hardened; the rate of hardened intra-field traffic has reached 86.6%.
Regarding the tasks in the coming time, Mr. Huynh Xuan Chinh emphasized: “Accelerate economic growth; mobilize and effectively use resources, invest in completing the infrastructure system to serve development and people's lives. Promote administrative reform and digital transformation; take care of cultural and social development, improve people's quality of life. Maintain political stability, ensure national defense and security; Promote the strength of national solidarity, meet the increasing demands to join the whole province and the whole country in entering a new era - the era of national development".
