The Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Ca Mau province has reported on the fact that many electric taxi drivers stopped working to demand benefits.
On January 3, according to a source from Giao Thong Newspaper, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (LD, TB&XH) of Ca Mau province quickly reported on the review of the reflection of many electric taxi drivers who stopped working to demand benefits, causing a stir in public opinion.
Accordingly, the Department and relevant agencies had a working session with Bao Gia Ca Mau Joint Stock Company (Nam Thang Ca Mau Electric Taxi, belonging to Nam Thang Group Joint Stock Company), registered head office address in Ca Mau at 179 Nguyen Trung Truc Street, Hamlet 1, Ward 8, Ca Mau City, Ca Mau Province on the above issue.
According to records, on the evening of December 31, 2024, about 60 drivers gathered at Thanh Nien Square to discuss and request to resolve their rights regarding charging fees, revenue and wages.
On the morning of January 1, the company representative held a meeting with the drivers to resolve the issue. However, the meeting between the company's leaders and the drivers did not reach a consensus, leading to a dispute, because the company required the drivers to pay 50% of the battery charging fee.
Specifically, the company has announced free battery charging, according to which the company will support each vehicle with 1 million VND/month (this amount will be added directly to the driver's monthly salary) and support 50% of the battery charging fee, and the remaining 50% of the battery charging fee will be deducted from the driver's monthly salary.
Mr. Tran Ba Thang, General Director of the company, had a direct meeting with the drivers and explained the reason why drivers are forced to pay 50% of the battery charging fee.
The reason is that the demand for electric vehicle charging in Ca Mau is very high, leading to a shortage of charging stations during the day. However, due to lack of information and instigation from outside, many drivers have stopped working.
After being explained, the drivers understood the new policy. To ensure the rights of the drivers, the company issued a notice on 100% exemption of battery charging fees for drivers.
The salary policy is applied according to the salary scale system of Nam Thang Group Joint Stock Company. The driver's salary is determined based on revenue and is regulated for the entire system of companies under Nam Thang Group.
Specifically: If revenue reaches 28 million VND/month, the driver receives 8 million VND. If revenue exceeds 28 million VND/month, the driver receives 40% of the difference.
If the revenue is lower than 28 million VND, the salary will be deducted proportionally. In the month, the driver receives the lowest salary of 3 million VND/month, corresponding to a revenue of 12 million/month.
Afterwards, the company's Board of Directors had a meeting with the director, reprimanded him, and learned from his experience in speaking and communicating with subordinates. At the same time, the drivers returned to work as usual.
Through working with the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Ca Mau province, the company has committed to continue implementing policies to support drivers, especially regarding battery charging fees and salaries; coordinate to resolve remaining disagreements and ensure stable operations.
Along with that, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Ca Mau province continues to coordinate with the Provincial Labor Federation and the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Ca Mau city to continue monitoring the situation and take timely measures to ensure the rights of workers.
