Proposal to set off fireworks every Saturday to celebrate 50 years of Southern liberation

The Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City has proposed to set off fireworks every Saturday night, from April 19 to May 31 at the beginning of the Saigon River tunnel to respond to activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of national reunification.

According to the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification is a major event of special significance. The Central Party Secretariat has decided to hold a national celebration in Ho Chi Minh City.

In response to the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification and the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025), from March 20 to May 31, Ho Chi Minh City will organize a series of meaningful activities.

In particular, art programs, street performances, cruise ship parades, flower boats on the Saigon River, paragliding and flyboard performances... will be held on the evenings of April 19, April 26, May 3, May 10, and May 17.

On April 29 and 30, Nguyen Hue walking street and the Bach Dang Wharf - Saigon River area will have special art activities such as circus, magic, opera, martial arts, and trumpet music. In particular, Ho Chi Minh City will perform 10,500 drones (unmanned aerial vehicles), making a proposal to set a Vietnamese record for the largest number of drones flying at one time.

On this occasion, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City proposed to set off fireworks every Saturday night from April 19 to May 31 at the Saigon River Tunnel, Thu Duc City. On the night of April 30, the city plans to set off fireworks at 7 locations, including: the Saigon River Tunnel (Thu Duc City), Ben Duoc Martyrs Memorial Temple (Cu Chi), Nga Ba Giong Martyrs Memorial Area (Hoc Mon), Lang Le - Bau Co Relic Site (Binh Chanh), Can Gio District Football Field, National Historical - Cultural Park, Dam Sen Cultural Park.

In addition, the Ho Chi Minh City Command is mobilizing districts, towns and businesses located in the area to participate in socialization to organize more fireworks display sites, contributing to creating a vibrant festival atmosphere throughout the city.

It is known that currently, programs serving the celebration such as the parade and march held on Le Duan Street on the morning of April 30 are being practiced and prepared by Ho Chi Minh City in coordination with ministries, departments, branches, central organizations, relevant agencies and units.
