On June 27, sharing with Tuoi Tre Online , a representative of the Health Department of District 10 (HCMC) said that starting from the beginning of July 2024, the area will organize a 45-day peak campaign to inspect and punish illegal cosmetic surgery.
The inspection period is from July 1 to August 14. The inspection subjects are skin care facilities and other facilities suspected of operating without a license in District 10.
According to this person, District 10 is one of the hottest locations for illegal activities of cosmetic establishments.
“In 2023, District 10 imposed strict penalties, so in the first 6 months of 2024, the number of people reporting through the "Online Health" app decreased by 50%.
However, somewhere there is still smoldering, complicated developments of illegal aesthetics.
We will be determined in implementing this peak campaign," he informed.
Also according to the People's Committee of District 10, in recent times, many skin care facilities in the area have deliberately operated medical examinations and cosmetic treatment without a license.
It is worth mentioning that these facilities try every way to avoid inspection teams, most of them use aesthetic and invasive techniques, and many cases of accidents and complications occur after performing aesthetic services at skin care facilities, as well as other facilities.
During the inspection process, any facility that violates the law will be strictly handled according to the provisions of the law, no forbidden areas, no exceptions...
"Underground" cosmetic surgery is increasingly sophisticated
Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health Tang Chi Thuong said that in Ho Chi Minh City there are more than 7,000 facilities providing aesthetic services, but only 598 facilities are licensed to operate by the Ministry of Health and the Department of Health (accounting for less than 15% of the total number of facilities).
The remaining 85% of establishments are certified by the People's Committees of districts and Thu Duc City (only need to apply for a business registration certificate - business household or company).
This, according to the head of the Ho Chi Minh City health sector, has created three challenges for state management agencies with illegal cosmetic service provision activities in the area.
Specifically, the situation of incorrect advertising, lack of attention to post-inspection activities of cosmetic service providers, and increasingly sophisticated "underground" cosmetic activities.
In particular, this activity is tending to move to establishments that can avoid state management agencies such as hotels, motels, etc.
