Musician Duong Truong Giang: Nurturing emotions from living truly, sharing truly

More than 10 years for the song "A i a" to be born

To create a successful TV series, in addition to a good script and excellent cast, the soundtrack must also be mentioned. Each film has a theme, so the composition of the soundtrack must also be appropriate and convey the message of the film.

Sharing about the inspiration for the song “A í a”, the theme song of the movie “How Beautiful Life Is” that has attracted audiences recently, musician Duong Truong Giang said that he wrote the song in two stages. He shared: “The first stage was written more than ten years ago, after releasing the first album Pho khong mua (around 2011-2012), then I saved this song in my personal composition library. When receiving the script from the film directors, I immediately thought of “A í a” because I also had a time of youth with many deprivations similar to the lives in the movie that the director portrayed. So, I brought out that song and continued to write new messages. Until now, I want to share more with the audience and the song “A í a” was born.”

From his own experiences, along with closely following the content of the film script, the soulful song "A i a" by musician Duong Truong Giang performed by himself has contributed to bringing "Life is still beautiful" closer to the audience. Although the film has ended, the echoes still remain, especially the soundtrack. Musician Duong Truong Giang expressed his joy when many viewers admitted to being "addicted" to the soundtrack of "Life is still beautiful". With a warm voice, the male musician excitedly shared: "For artists, the audience's feelings are like spiritual medicine that is not easy to find".

When writing film music, I have to write from a different perspective, the perspective of the director, the perspective of the characters in the film. The second difficulty is that music is the opposite of a screenwriter. A screenwriter can write a small meaning into thousands of pages. A musician can write a song of about 12-16 sentences from those thousands of pages, but must portray the entire space, time, location, story in the film and the great meaning of the film. So for me, every time I write film music, it is a challenge but also a lot of fun.

Up to now, musician Duong Truong Giang has a huge fortune with about 400 songs and 5 soundtracks. For a composer, to have a brainchild, in addition to life experience, one must have emotions. To nurture emotions, musician Duong Truong Giang chooses to live truthfully, sharing his musical views with the audience. He explains: "When I am truthful with my emotions, I will bring a sense of security and safety to the audience. That is the most important thing."

In recent years, Duong Truong Giang has become the name that "guarantees" many TV drama soundtracks that are loved by the audience. Each of his compositions expresses the artist's most honest perspective on the reality of life in each period, as he revealed: "I often choose to write more about memories because memories are beautiful. We should not write about things that we have not experienced." This is summarized in words that easily linger in the hearts of listeners, such as in the song "A i a" with the line: "A i a proud reason to live life"...

The male musician of “Pho khong mua” confided: ““A i a” was written from two stages after more than ten years. The first stage is the stage of youth. We can share with each other that youth is encapsulated in two words: lack. Everything is lacking. But it is because of the lack that our youth is beautiful. When we are young, if we have dreams, have passion, we lack time, because we have to spend a lot of time studying. We have certain hobbies, we lack money... It is those shortages that make us have more desires, more destinations. To me, those experiences are priceless.”

Choose "slow but steady" on the path of art

“I joined the arts quite late, I only started participating at 18. At that time, singing was my true love. It was not until I learned about the Vietnamese Song contest that I participated as a musician. At that time, I wanted to invest my whole heart and soul in one field because I didn’t have much time. At a time, I can only develop one strength, so I chose to be a musician first. Up until now, after being a musician, producer, and music director of programs, I think this is the time to share more, or directly deliver messages to the audience. It can be good, it can be bad, there are different opinions, but being able to do what I like, I want to share it with the audience about it” - musician Duong Truong Giang shared.

In the program Chuyen Dong V-biz, the male musician also revealed the project that he has cherished for a long time: "I have wanted to make a second album for many years but have not had time. Recently, I have decided that by November at the latest, I will have the "final" disc in my hands. I do not know if the crew will take 1 or 2 months to release it to the audience."
