On June 17, the Association of Hoai An District (Binh Dinh), the Association of Binh Dinh District in Ho Chi Minh City, in collaboration with the Association for Supporting Poor Patients of Ho Chi Minh City, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine (Ho Chi Minh City), Tay Nam Eye Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City) and Hoai An District Medical Center... conducted a program of cataract surgery using high-tech phaco soft lens surgery for poor patients in Hoai An District.
Doctors screen poor patients before eye surgery in Hoai An District
According to the organizers, the program was widely announced to the people of Hoai An district in advance and local commune health stations will examine and refer patients needing eye surgery to Hoai An district Medical Center.
On June 17, doctors and nurses screened and performed free eye surgery on 228 cases. On June 18, the team will continue cataract surgery using advanced phaco soft lens technology for patients.
As expected, the program will provide free eye surgery for at least 300 patients in Hoai An District.
The program had the participation of 15 medical staff from Ho Chi Minh City, including 7 doctors. The total cost of the program was about 500 million VND, sponsored by the Ho Chi Minh City Association for Supporting Poor Patients.
