Businesses violating food safety in Hanoi will have their information made public
Hanoi People's Committee has just issued a propaganda plan on food safety work in 2025.
The plan aims to create a substantial change in the awareness and responsibility of all levels, sectors and people in implementing the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws related to food safety.
According to the report of the Food Safety Department, in 2024, the whole country recorded 135 food poisoning cases, causing 4,936 people to be infected and 24 people to die. |
At the same time, the plan also emphasizes the importance of protecting consumer health and rights, contributing to meeting the requirements of development and international economic integration of the Capital.
In particular, propaganda work focuses on the group of "choice" rights, aiming to send market signals, warn the community, and at the same time fight and condemn illegal acts. Food products that violate hygiene and safety standards will be boycotted.
Also in the plan, authorities will disseminate knowledge and skills on food safety to managers, producers, processors, food traders, and consumers.
The goal is to raise public awareness about not buying food of unknown origin and unsanitary quality. In addition, the ethical factors of food producers, processors, and traders will be especially emphasized.
The plan also calls for public awareness of the current state of food safety and measures to implement related solutions. Authorities will promptly warn of food safety risks, publicize violations and combat these subjects.
In particular, typical examples in ensuring food safety will be commended and rewarded. Enterprises and individuals who discover and provide information on unsafe food production and trading will be honored and rewarded.
The City People's Committee assigned the Department of Health, the standing agency of the City's Food Safety Steering Committee, to coordinate with relevant departments and branches to provide information on activities and results of food safety implementation in Hanoi.
Regarding food safety management, nationwide, the Food Safety Department has just issued a document requesting to strengthen inspection, examination and supervision of food safety, especially at ready-to-eat food processing establishments, collective kitchens in industrial parks, schools, food service establishments, street food establishments, as well as establishments producing and trading bottled and jarred drinking water.
To ensure food safety and prevent food poisoning, the Food Safety Department requires provinces and cities to proactively develop plans and implement measures appropriate to the actual situation in the locality.
In particular, it is necessary to focus on controlling high-risk foods such as poisonous mushrooms, toads, puffer fish, cicada pupae, strange creatures, strange fruits and alcohol containing methanol.
The Department also emphasized the importance of strictly handling and suspending operations of establishments that do not ensure food safety conditions and do not have a Food Safety Certificate. Violations will be made public in the media to warn the community.
Localities need to step up communication work, coordinate with digital media and newspapers to raise public awareness of food safety. At the same time, it is necessary to implement monitoring and guidance measures for mobile cooking services and crowded events such as festivals, weddings, and death anniversaries.
The Food Safety Department also calls for the participation of the community and businesses in protecting clean and safe food. Safe food production models will be commended, while unsafe food production practices will be strongly criticized.
According to the report of the Food Safety Department, in 2024, the whole country recorded 135 food poisoning cases, causing 4,936 people to be infected and 24 people to die.
Compared to 2023, the number of poisoning cases increased by 10 and the number of people infected increased by 2,787, although the number of deaths decreased by 4. Notably, there were 31 major poisoning cases, with over 30 people infected, mainly in collective kitchens and street food, especially street food businesses that sell in large quantities but have not been strictly inspected and controlled.
