Four people were killed and 23 others were missing after flash floods and landslides occurred in Kangding City, Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, according to Xinhua.
The disaster occurred on the morning of August 3, causing a bridge to collapse and destroying many houses in a village. According to the announcement of the local rescue agency, 16 people were hospitalized for medical treatment, 4 people have been discharged.
The collapse of the bridge connecting the tunnels caused four vehicles to fall into the tunnel. Local authorities immediately launched a rescue operation after the incident. Some 291 firefighters were mobilized, while 100 workers were sent to restore the roads. More than 930 affected residents were evacuated to safety.
The village is located in a valley at an altitude of 1,300m above sea level, while the nearby mountains are more than 5,000m above sea level.
