Universities pay foreigners up to nearly 100 million/month
Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology is recruiting 27 scientists with doctoral degrees or higher, in the fields of microchip design/semiconductor technology; data science/computer science; mechatronic engineering/automation; applied mathematics; chemical engineering/biotechnology/materials technology.
According to the school's policy, Vietnamese scientists will receive a basic salary according to state regulations and job position salaries corresponding to the following levels: 18 million VND/month for PhD; 28 million VND/month for associate professor; 33 million VND/month for professor.
According to this school, the average total income of lecturers ranges from 35-45 million/month for PhDs and 85 million/month for associate professors and professors. Scientists also receive attractive holiday and Tet bonuses, averaging 20% of the monthly state salary and job position salary. In addition, they also have the opportunity to enjoy policies supporting scientific research.
For foreign lecturers, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology will pay the salary for the job position 3 times higher than the salary for the corresponding position of Vietnamese candidates, i.e. 54 million/month for PhD, 84 million/month for associate professor; 99 million/month for professor. Foreign scientists are also supported with 2 round-trip air tickets/year, creating stable conditions for food and accommodation in the first 3 months; supporting documents and procedures during the working process.
The University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City, is recruiting 17 people with a doctorate degree or higher. According to the school's policy, if they are Vietnamese, scientists will receive a basic salary according to state regulations, adjusted according to seniority, and receive a salary according to their job position of 15 million/month. Newly recruited personnel such as professors will receive 200 million, associate professors will receive 150 million, and doctors will receive 100 million.
For foreigners, this school pays double the salary for the job position, 30 million/month, supports 2 round-trip air tickets/year, creates stable conditions for food and accommodation in the first 3 months, as well as procedures during the working process.

According to the attraction policy of the University of Economics and Law, professors working at the school will receive 350 million VND, associate professors will receive 250 million VND, and doctors will receive 150 million VND. In addition, lecturers will receive a bonus of 150 million VND when they meet the standards for the title of professor, and 100 million VND when they meet the standards for the title of associate professor. Regarding income, lecturers with a doctorate degree and over 3 years of experience will receive 35 million VND/month; associate professors will receive 55 million VND/month, and professors will receive 65 million VND/month.
Although the specific numbers were not disclosed, according to this school, foreign candidates enjoy the same policies as Vietnamese people, with other benefits as agreed in the contract.
An Giang University pays Vietnamese scientists 15 million VND/month in salary and allowances, but foreigners receive 20 million VND/month, and supports round-trip airfare/year, accommodation at international guest houses, and other benefits.
Research funding up to 30 billion VND

Leading scientists must meet 5 criteria regarding experience and capacity: Head of a research group or laboratory; Chair of a scientific and technological topic or project; Have published works in prestigious scientific journals or own exclusive invention or patent rights; Have experience in teaching and guiding graduate students; Have domestic and international relationships and cooperation (being a member of international scientific and technological organizations; participating in organizing international conferences and seminars; editing and reviewing articles for international journals).
Professors and doctors will enjoy incentives such as: In the first 2 years, young scientists will be granted a type C scientific research topic (maximum funding is 200 million VND), and in the third year, they will be granted a type B topic with a maximum funding of 1 billion VND.
In the 4th and 5th working years, young scientists are supported to invest in laboratories for scientific research (maximum budget of 10 billion VND) and then supported and guided in procedures and processes for recognition of meeting the standards for the title of associate professor at the state level.
Meanwhile, leading scientists are granted a type B scientific research project (maximum funding of 1 billion VND) in the first 2 years. In the following years, scientists are supported to invest in laboratories for scientific research (maximum funding of 30 billion VND); supported to establish strong research groups; supported to register to chair projects at all levels.
