From unique landscapes

In recent years, Hon Nhan scenic spot (Binh Chau commune, Binh Son district, Quang Ngai province) has attracted many tourists to visit and explore because of its poetic and unique beauty.

Hon Nhan is considered the second Ganh Da Dia - after Ganh Da Dia of Phu Yen.

This rocky island area was created from the eruption and tectonic activity of volcanic sediments, so it is considered the second “Ganh Da Dia” – after Ganh Da Dia of Phu Yen province. Around Hon Nhan, there are many colorful coral reefs.

Hon Nhan is about 10-15 minutes by boat from the coast. Visitors can rent a vehicle from the locals to come here to watch the sunrise, sunset and immerse themselves in the clear, poetic sea water.

“Hon Nhan landscape is increasingly attracting tourists because of its wild beauty. Every week, my canoe picks up 2-3 groups of tourists. Hopefully in the future, Hon Nhan will be invested in and exploited to develop tourism to its full potential,” said Mr. Bui Van Binh (Binh Chau commune).

Binh Chau Commune is home to many geological heritages formed by volcanic activity millions of years ago. In addition to Hon Nhan, Ba Tan Gan is also a famous tourist destination near and far.

In particular, Binh Chau land is very famous in the maps of Western missionaries drawing international maritime routes with the names Ba Tan Gan and Ba Tan Gan cape (today Ba Lang An cape).

To the "shipwreck graveyard"

Not only does it have captivating scenery, Binh Chau is also known as a place that possesses many valuable antiques.

During the period from 1999 to present, thousands of antiquities have been discovered from shipwrecks in the Binh Chau sea area (Binh Son district). Typically, in 2012, fishermen in Chau Thuan Bien village (Binh Chau commune) discovered ceramics in an ancient shipwreck.

Excavations show that the ship burned before sinking, and inside there were Yuan Dynasty coins, the latest coins dating from 1264-1295. In 2014, an ancient shipwreck was also discovered in this sea area, with broken artifacts including bowls, plates, and plates dating from the early 17th century. Therefore, this place is considered a "shipwreck cemetery".

From a cultural perspective, Binh Chau also has many interesting features. Because the Sa Huynh and Binh Chau culture residents had a tradition of going to sea very early. Typically, when scientists excavated and found traces of residence, burials and many pottery, bronze, iron objects... at the Suoi Chinh and Xom Oc sites in Ly Son island district.

The path to Sa Huynh culture is the origin of Binh Chau residents and to this day, fishermen continue the tradition of going to sea and sticking to the sea. Recently, the Sa Huynh residence and burial site in Binh Chau commune was ranked as a provincial historical relic with a protected area of about 20 hectares.

“There is a lot of potential but no capital, it is very difficult for people to develop. Therefore, there needs to be a clear development direction, such as initially exploiting and developing community tourism from members of the Binh Chau Commune Antique Association, from there spreading to the community” - Mr. Pham Tan Thi (Phu Quy village, Binh Chau commune) expressed.

Find ways to preserve and promote

Dr. Doan Ngoc Khoi - Deputy Director of Quang Ngai Provincial Museum affirmed that Binh Chau has full geological, heritage, cultural, historical conditions and is very advantageous in developing geological tourism.

This is a great potential for the locality to build suitable tourism products and models, thereby attracting investment and promoting the development of the province's "smokeless industry".

Mr. Khoi said that in order to manage, protect, operate and develop this "resource", first of all, the locality needs to have a Management Board for historical and cultural relics and scenic spots of Binh Chau commune and determine to preserve the heritage value associated with the humanistic values in that heritage.

According to Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ngai province Nguyen Tien Dung, to develop tourism in Binh Chau commune, the Department has coordinated with local authorities to build a model of "Promoting community tourism, associated with Sa Huynh cultural relics in Binh Chau commune".

In this model, tourism products are formed based on the existing natural and cultural heritage; using local human resources; building products and services and implementing tourism infrastructure investment activities associated with preserving natural and cultural-historical heritage.

“Through the model, we will establish a tour connecting Binh Chau with neighboring destinations suitable for sightseeing, experiencing geology, island culture associated with the Sa Huynh cultural site in Binh Chau commune. At the same time, we will develop a plan for the operation of a community tourism cooperative group, aiming to develop community tourism destinations in Binh Chau commune, helping people develop the economy from tourism activities” - Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung shared.
