On October 14, Mr. Olivier Brochet - Ambassador of the Republic of France, on behalf of the French Government, awarded the Academic Palm Medal to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Tu, President of Hanoi Medical University.

This is one of the noble awards of the French Government established in the early 19th century, under Napoleon I, to honor individuals with great contributions in the fields of education, science, and French culture and arts.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Olivier Brochet said that the French Government awarded the Academic Palm Medal to Professor Nguyen Huu Tu to honor a person who is both a representative of academic excellence and dedication to medicine, as well as a representative of tirelessly promoting the values ​​of the Francophone community.

According to Mr. Olivier Brochet, the generations of Vietnamese doctors and pharmacists who studied in France yesterday, today and tomorrow are the pillars of this long-term relationship and of a promising future for Vietnam's healthcare sector.

To date, more than 800 French-speaking doctors have graduated and nearly 100 medical theses have been defended in French before an international jury, including Vietnamese and French professors.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Tu was born in 1968, graduated as a general practitioner from Hanoi Medical University in 1990, and graduated as a resident physician, specializing in anesthesia and resuscitation in 1993. He then graduated from two specialized hospital residency programs in anesthesia and resuscitation in France.

In 2000-2003, he was a researcher at the National Center for Scientific Research, French Republic, and a teaching assistant at the University of Paris XII, Créteil. In 2003, he graduated with a doctorate in medicine from Hanoi Medical University.

He was awarded the title of associate professor in 2007 and professor in 2014 by Hanoi Medical University and is the youngest associate professor and professor in the medical field to be recognized at this time.
