Many young people have shared with Tuoi Tre about the pressure, even helplessness, when they go online and see the price of gold increasing 'through the roof'.

Wedding plans are in disarray, anyone who mentions gold wants to 'block' them
After 7 years of leaving his hometown in the Central region to start a business in Vung Tau, Thanh D.'s (29 years old) salary, if he works overtime, is only 8 million VND/month. Even though he spends frugally and eats frugally, D. only hopes that he and his parents in the countryside do not get sick that month, so that he can have some extra money to save.
D. is planning to get married next summer. Both parents are farmers. Whatever they earn, they spend on raising their children.
That's why when looking at the current gold price (nearly 100.9 million VND/tael), D. said he felt very confused.
After 7 years of working abroad, D. has only saved a few tens of millions of dong. That amount of money is not enough for D. to cover the cost of going back and forth to the hometown, the cost of the wedding feast, and all the other expenses to prepare for the wedding.
D. plans to keep the wedding ceremony simple. The two sides exchange the smallest wedding rings, skipping the engagement ring "because they can't bear to". Buying gold as a dowry when the price of gold is at its peak is very difficult.
"Gold prices are skyrocketing. The difference between buying and selling prices is also extremely high," D. confided.
Ms. Ngoc H. (a freelance trader in Ho Chi Minh City) recently posted on Facebook very frankly: "I don't forbid anyone from talking about gold. But if any of my friends post about gold prices, I block them. I've become impatient watching the price of gold keep increasing."

The dream of saving to buy gold is further away
Ms. Van (28 years old, living in Binh Tan district, Ho Chi Minh City) confided that the total income of the couple is about 26 million VND/month. However, when paying for rent (6 million), children's education (3 million), diapers (about 4 million); electricity, water, Internet costs about 1.5 million VND/month... along with 1,001 expenses for food, transportation, health check-ups, it is still not possible to save.
"Before, the price of gold was 8 million VND/tael, which was already considered high. Sometimes, I had to save for half a year to buy 500 grams or 1 tael, and sometimes when my child got sick and had to go to the hospital, I had to sell it. Now, I only look at the price, I don't dare buy because I can't afford it," Ms. Van shared.
Mr. Tr. (30 years old, living in Binh Chanh district, Ho Chi Minh City) said that his salary as an electrician is about 10 million VND/month. Just when he had planned to tighten his spending even more to save money and buy gold for his wife's wedding, the increase in gold prices made Mr. Tr. shake his head in disappointment.
He said that although he was frugal, because he lived alone, his job required him to leave early and come home late, and the rent and food costs almost ate up his entire salary. If he was frugal, he would have 1-2 million VND left over to send to his parents in the countryside every month.
"Before, I thought that if I saved 1 million a month, after 5-6 months I would be able to buy 1 tael. Now, after 6 months, I can buy 5 phan. Everyone says that if you save a lot, you can buy a lot, but they don't notice that everything has increased in price. A bowl of noodles is now 30,000 - 35,000 VND. Before the low price of gold, everything was cheap, so it was difficult to save 1 million, but now it's hard to have 500,000 VND left over," Mr. Tr. confided.
How much did you give me for my wedding?
As of noon on March 20, the gold price set a new record at nearly 100.9 million VND/tael.
The sad and happy side stories of the rising gold price are very straightforward questions also related to gold. Mr. Cuong (28 years old) said that he had just received a text message, although he knew it was a joke from his close friend, it still made him very embarrassed. "She got married when the gold price was 5.3 million VND/tael. Now that she knew I was getting married, she texted me, saying that she was a close friend and jokingly asked: How much did you give me as a wedding gift? ", he recounted.
She was hesitant because he knew that the price of gold was low before. But now, if she bought the same amount of gold as before, the price would almost double.
