“I was diagnosed with respiratory failure, caused by weather changes. Since contracting Covid-19, I have had this disease twice in the past 3 years,” Ms. Luc shared.
In the same situation, in room 506 of the Department, according to Ms. Cam Thi Thanh Hai (born in 1967, residing in Cam Le district), when she was admitted to the hospital, she had symptoms of coughing up a lot of phlegm, even having difficulty breathing. After nearly 7 days of hospitalization, up to now, she is only a little tired.
Regarding the number of hospitalized patients, Dr. Hoang Thi Tam, Deputy Head of the Department of Internal Medicine and Respiratory Medicine at Da Nang Hospital, said that the cold weather in the Central region in recent days has caused the number of people hospitalized with respiratory diseases to increase by about 30-40%. Specifically, the Department of Internal Medicine and Respiratory Medicine has fluctuated between 100-110 patients, but on November 20, the number peaked at more than 170 patients.

The reason is that the weather in the Central region in general and Da Nang in particular suddenly turned cold.
On the other hand, in recent days, the number of patients has increased due to many cases of lung infections and severe asthma attacks transferred from lower-level hospitals.
“In this period, for young and middle-aged patients, patients with upper respiratory tract infection, allergic rhinitis, prolonged dry cough, sore throat, laryngeal dyspnea; Second, patients with chronic diseases such as severe underlying diseases, pneumonia that has been treated and now relapses,” informed Dr. Tam.
To reduce the load on the Department of Respiratory Medicine - Allergy Immunology, Da Nang Hospital has planned to transfer patients to the second facility of the Department of Respiratory Medicine at the Cardiovascular Center - Da Nang Hospital for treatment, expanding the number of patients out of the hospital room.

Dr. Tam recommends that for chronic diseases in the department such as obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchial asthma, people are recommended to get the flu vaccine every 6 months and the pneumococcal vaccine every year. For patients with chronic diseases, they need to bring medicine to relieve shortness of breath because changes in the weather can trigger an acute shortness of breath attack, endangering the patient's life.
In addition, people need to keep warm with 5 points: head, hands, feet, face, neck. Before leaving the house early in the morning or coming home late at night, you need to keep warm and warm up before going out, you have to exercise. You can drink warm water, or use warm lemon honey.
In public places such as hospitals, people need to wear masks, wash their hands regularly; avoid contact with patients infected with flu, measles, chickenpox...
At the same time, people must have a suitable diet, adding drinks such as fruit juice and vitamin-rich fruits to increase resistance during this cold season.
