Goalkeeper Filip Nguyen’s procedures for obtaining Vietnamese citizenship have been completed. On the evening of December 6, the Hanoi Police Club (CAHN) announced that Filip Nguyen had become a Vietnamese citizen.
At 8:00 p.m. the same day, the team received notification from the Ministry of Justice that Filip Nguyen's application had been approved. The Ministry of Justice issued an official response.
Thanks to that, Filip Nguyen is eligible to wear the national team jersey this month. Previously, Filip Nguyen wrote a letter attached to his application, asking to change his name to Nguyen Filip and it was approved. This is the new name of the goalkeeper born in 1992 after obtaining Vietnamese nationality.
Footballer Filip Nguyen has a Vietnamese father and a Czech mother.
After successfully naturalizing, he shared on his personal page: "Hello everyone. Surely everyone is waiting for news? I would like to announce that I have officially become a Vietnamese citizen. Thank you everyone for supporting me. Today we have achieved what we have been working hard for the past few years. I can finally announce that I have dual nationality! I want to thank all of you for the great support, thank you to my family, the people at the club and the wonderful fans."
The goalkeeper born in 1992 has 8 years of playing in Europe, playing for 2 relatively strong teams in the Czech Republic, Slovan Liberec and Slovacko. He also has experience playing in the Europa League - the second most prestigious playground in Europe. Filip Nguyen moved to CAHN in the second phase of the 2023 season, winning the V-League championship with his team. This season, he and CAHN Club are temporarily ranked 4th with 7 points after 4 rounds. With Vietnamese nationality, Filip Nguyen will likely be on the list of the Vietnamese national team at the end of this month, in preparation for the 2023 Asian Cup.
