The Korean Coast Guard said it received a report that the 139-ton ship and 14 crew members were missing at 1:41 a.m. local time the same day in waters about 17 kilometers east of Habaek Island and about 316 meters south of the capital Seoul.

The Korean Coast Guard dispatched 23 ships and eight aircraft in coordination with other authorities to rescue seven crew members, but three of them died, including the 66-year-old captain. The four survivors showed signs of hypothermia and were taken to a hospital in nearby Goheung County.

A crew member said the vehicle capsized due to strong winds and large waves.

Currently, authorities are urgently searching for the missing people, including 5 Koreans, 1 Vietnamese, and 1 Indonesian.
