(NLDO) - The education and training sector must bring science, technology, and innovation into schools from the smallest activities and simplest imaginations.
On the afternoon of March 19, the National Science and Technology Competition for high school students for the 2024-2025 school year officially opened at Ton Duc Thang University (HCMC).
The contest was organized by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the city's Department of Education and Training, taking place from March 19 to 21.

The National Science and Technology Competition for high school students in the 2024-2025 school year has the participation of 62/63 Departments of Education and Training and 12 units of universities, colleges, institutes, research institutes with high schools; high schools under ministries and ministerial-level agencies.
Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong said that this year's contest has many new features, taking place in the context of the Politburo signing and issuing Resolution 57 on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation - the Resolution is considered as "Contract 10" in science and technology.
Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong highly appreciated the preparation of facilities and conditions in Ho Chi Minh City for the competition to take place successfully.
“Scientists and experts assess that when Resolution 57 comes into effect, the education and training sector must bring science, technology, and innovation into schools from the smallest activities, the simplest but possibly the boldest imaginations, starting from high school. Forming dreams, aspirations, innovative thinking, and the spirit of scientists in students - future citizens - from high school,” Mr. Thuong emphasized.
According to Mr. Pham Ngoc Thuong, this year's contest is organized in the same spirit; aiming to take innovation, creativity, science and technology, digital transformation, and gradually making English the second language as a breakthrough in educational innovation in the coming school years.
Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, spoke at the opening ceremony of the contest.
Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, said that this is the third time in 13 editions that Ho Chi Minh City has been assigned to host the contest. Through the contest, Ho Chi Minh City hopes to introduce the people, culture and achievements of the city's socio-economic development.
This year, the competition has a total of 212 projects in 22 fields, selected from provincial and school level competitions. Of these, there are 23 individual projects, 189 collective projects; 190 projects of high school students and 22 projects of middle school students.
A total of 401 students participated, including 358 high school students and 43 middle school students.
