This is an annual activity of the Ministry of Industry and Trade assigned to the National Competition Commission, Industry and Trade Magazine in coordination with the Hai Phong Department of Industry and Trade to implement.
Attending the ceremony were representatives of the National Assembly's Committee on Science, Technology and Environment; leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade; leaders of the Hai Phong City People's Committee; representatives of leaders of central and local ministries and departments; representatives of organizations, associations, businesses, and a large number of press agencies and consumers.
In 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Trade chose the theme of responding to Vietnam Consumer Rights Day as "Transparent Information - Responsible Consumption" to affirm the importance of providing transparent information to consumers, and at the same time, call for the responsibility of consumers to participate in building a civilized, healthy and sustainable consumption environment, contributing to bringing the protection of consumer rights in Vietnam to a new level.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan said that protecting the legitimate rights of consumers is the responsibility of state agencies, businesses and the whole society.
In the past time, implementing the assigned tasks in Directive No. 30/2019 of the Secretariat, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and relevant agencies have made efforts to synchronously deploy many solutions to continue promoting and improving the effectiveness of consumer rights protection. In particular, it has recommended that competent authorities promulgate a synchronous system of legal documents, including: Law on Consumer Rights Protection, Government Decree, Prime Minister's Decision to detail and guide the implementation of the Law. At the same time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade also regularly and continuously promotes propaganda, education, and raising public awareness. Propaganda activities are organized in a variety of forms, targeting many subjects, many activities attract tens of thousands of participants such as competitions, exhibitions, and races; Many propaganda videos on social platforms attracted nearly 100 million views and more than 200,000 shares, creating a widespread and positive ripple effect in the community.
However, the Deputy Minister said that protecting consumer rights is a long journey, and not easy. In order for this work to be effective, in addition to the efforts of the authorities, close cooperation between businesses and consumers is also extremely important. Businesses need to realize that respecting consumer rights is not only a legal obligation but also a key factor in building a reputable brand and sustainable development in an increasingly competitive environment.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Ta Dinh Thi, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Science, Technology and Environment, highly appreciated the efforts and results that agencies and organizations have achieved in protecting consumer rights, especially the results of implementing the Law at ministries, departments, branches, localities in general and at the Ministry of Industry and Trade in particular in recent times.
To continue to improve the effectiveness of consumer rights protection in the coming time, Mr. Ta Dinh Thi emphasized that consumer rights protection work needs to closely follow and originate from consumption practices with three main contents: First, it is necessary to always clearly identify that consumer rights protection is a common responsibility of the State and the whole society, in which it is especially important to attach importance to the role of key subjects, including state management agencies, social organizations, business organizations and individuals, consumers and the supervisory role of elected agencies; Second, it is necessary to promote the proactiveness, positivity and creativity of agencies, organizations and individuals participating in consumer rights protection work. Each individual and organization, especially the leader, needs to fully and comprehensively perceive and demonstrate a high sense of responsibility, initiative and determination in leading, directing and organizing the implementation of the task of protecting consumer rights according to the Law; Third, continue to promote information and propaganda work with diverse and rich forms and contents, especially on social platforms, ensuring suitability with regional conditions, agencies, organizations, and subjects; focusing on effectiveness and substance. Raise awareness and enhance coordination and professional exchange on consumer rights protection among entities participating in consumer rights protection.
The leader of Hai Phong City People's Committee also said that Hai Phong is one of the localities actively implementing activities in response to Vietnam Consumer Rights Day in the area with rich and diverse content. Each year, there are over 350 news, articles, reports, publications, leaflets promoting consumers, over 200 markets, supermarkets, shopping malls, Winmart+ stores; along with nearly 600 agencies, units, production and business enterprises providing commercial services participating in the propaganda by hanging banners and slogans; there are 1,150 organizations participating in consumer gratitude programs with over 120,000 preferential products, discounts, promotions, gifts; nearly 300 enterprises participating in training conferences, promoting consumer protection. Customer complaints and questions are thoroughly resolved by authorities in coordination with manufacturers and businesses, creating trust for consumers in the city.
Within the framework of the Launching Ceremony, a signing ceremony of memorandums of understanding (MOU) took place between the Department of Industry and Trade of Hai Phong City and businesses on promoting consumer protection. On the sidelines of the event, activities in response to Consumer Rights Day 2025 were held such as: Seminar on "Transparent information in transactions on cyberspace"; Megalive session introducing and promoting ST25 rice products on the Tiktok platform;...
Following the activities organized in March, provinces, cities and businesses will continue to carry out other response activities to enhance and promote the effectiveness of consumer rights protection nationwide. Thereby, gradually turning Consumer Rights Day into an important driving force and highlight in economic and social life, contributing to building a healthy and developing business and consumption environment.
Contributing to spreading the message of Vietnam Consumer Rights Day 2025, from March 15 to June 15, Industry and Trade Magazine in collaboration with TikTok Vietnam organized the hashtag challenge campaign An Tam Vui Sam (#AnTamVuiSam) (#nguoitieudung) (#minhbach_trachnhiem) calling on the community of creators, sellers, influencers and consumers to make videos sharing knowledge and experiences around the topic of protecting consumer rights and measures to prevent online fraud related to e-commerce. The content is expected to reach about 500 million views, contributing to widely spreading the message about the importance of ensuring consumer rights with transparency, information security and safety in the online shopping environment. |
The 2023 Law on Consumer Rights Protection continues to stipulate that March 15 of each year is Vietnam Consumer Rights Day. Previously, since 2015, the Prime Minister has stipulated that March 15 is Vietnam Consumer Rights Day. The provision on Vietnam Consumer Rights Day in the Law not only continues to affirm the role, position, and importance of consumer rights protection but also creates a stronger legal basis to mobilize the interest, response, and participation of the whole society in consumer rights protection. |
