Professor Erich Johann Lejeune receives the “Contribution to Da Nang” Award

NDO - Professor Erich Johann Lejeune (German nationality), founder of the Heart for Heart Foundation for Life, is the first person to receive the "Dedication to Da Nang" Award from Da Nang city.

On the morning of March 18, Da Nang Hospital held an opening ceremony for the intervention room equipped with the Azurion 7 digital subtraction angiography (DSA) system sponsored by the "Heart for the Heart" organization, and at the same time expressed gratitude for the outstanding contributions of Professor Erich Johann Lejeune and his wife to the professional development of the medical sector in Da Nang city.

At the program, Professor Erich Johann Lejeune was honored to receive the “Dedication to Da Nang” Award. He is the first person to receive this noble award from the Da Nang City government.

The organization "Heart for Heart" (Germany), founded by Professor Erich Johann Lejeune and Dr. Irène Lejeune, is a non-governmental organization with a long history of operation, continuously supporting the health sector of Da Nang city in implementing a congenital heart intervention program for children.

Since 2006, the organization "Heart for Heart" has provided Da Nang Hospital with many modern equipment worth millions of euros; at the same time, it has supported the training of specialized human resources in cardiovascular intervention by sending many leading German cardiovascular experts to transfer cardiovascular intervention techniques for congenital heart disease to serve the examination and screening of cardiovascular diseases for the people of Da Nang and the Central Highlands region.

As of 2024, Da Nang Hospital will always maintain a congenital heart disease screening program in remote areas, localities in communes and wards in Da Nang city and neighboring provinces in the Central Highlands region.

To date, over 350,000 children have received free congenital heart disease screening, and nearly 3,000 cases have had congenital heart disease detected early.

In 2024, Mr. and Mrs. Lejeune will continue to sponsor a new DSA Azurion 7 system from Philips. This is one of the most modern cardiovascular intervention systems in Vietnam today, worth 1 million EUR, equivalent to 27 billion VND.

This is the third DSA system that Mr. and Mrs. Lejeune and the "Heart for Heart" organization have donated to Da Nang Hospital, contributing to improving the quality of cardiovascular health care for people in the area, while demonstrating the humanitarian spirit and deep attachment of Mr. and Mrs. Lejeune to the people of Da Nang.

Speaking at the program, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City Le Quang Nam expressed his most sincere thanks to Professor Erich Johann Lejeune and his wife, and the "Heart for Heart" Organization for all the valuable and meaningful contributions they have made to Da Nang City in general and Da Nang Hospital in particular.

Their noble hearts not only left a deep mark in the medical industry but also became a symbol of love and sharing with the community.

Mr. Le Quang Nam emphasized: Da Nang Hospital is one of the key medical facilities of the city and the Central Highlands region. Over the years, the hospital has constantly innovated and improved its medical examination and treatment capacity, aiming to provide more comprehensive and effective health care for the people.

"I believe that with the valuable support from dedicated organizations and individuals such as Professor Erich Johann Lejeune and his wife and the "Heart for the Heart" organization, Da Nang Hospital will continue to develop strongly, becoming a high-quality medical center, meeting the increasing medical examination and treatment needs of the people," Mr. Le Quang Nam stated.

Dr. Le Duc Nhan, Director of Da Nang Hospital, said: Over the past two decades, Professor Erich Johann Lejeune and his wife and the "Heart for Heart" Organization have not only been great philanthropists but also close companions of Da Nang Hospital.

Since 2006, with their passion and compassion, Mr. and Mrs. Lejeune have made great contributions to the development of the Cardiovascular Center, Da Nang Hospital, helping it become a bright spot in the field of cardiology in the Central Highlands region.

The numbers may represent a great contribution, but more than material things, it is the love, sharing and noble humanitarian spirit that you have given to our patients. Thousands of hearts have been revived, thousands of families have found joy and hope thanks to your tireless efforts.
