Hungary is ready to help Vietnam train 1,000 nuclear power operation experts.

(NLDO)- On the afternoon of March 19, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Péter Szijjártó.


Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to developing relations with Hungary, Vietnam's first comprehensive partner in Central and Eastern Europe. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh invited Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to pay an official visit to Vietnam soon.

Minister Szijjártó Péter expressed his pleasure to visit Vietnam on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations (1950-2025), affirming that Hungary wishes to further promote the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam, Hungary's leading important partner in Southeast Asia.

The Prime Minister thanked Hungary, a loyal friend, for its valuable support and assistance to Vietnam over the past 75 years; welcomed the close coordination between the two sides to prepare for the 10th meeting of the Vietnam-Hungary Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation in Hanoi in 2025, after a hiatus since 2019, to promote the increase of bilateral trade and investment turnover.

The Prime Minister also discussed with Minister Szijjártó Péter a number of measures to promote cooperation in the fields of education, mechanics, electronics, tourism, labor, railway connection between the two regions of Southeast Asia and Central Eastern Europe... especially emphasizing the desire for Hungary to support Vietnam in training high-quality human resources in the field of nuclear power plant operations, which is Hungary's strength and Vietnam's urgent need; agreed that the two sides should review the legal framework for bilateral cooperation, soon negotiate and sign an agreement on accepting back citizens and a cooperation agreement in the field of labor.

Minister Szijjártó Péter affirmed that with 50 years of experience in operating nuclear power plants using Russian technology, Hungary is ready to cooperate and help train 1,000 experts in nuclear power plant operations for Vietnam and considers this a strategic area of ​​cooperation between the two countries.

Discussing international and regional issues of mutual concern, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Minister Szijjártó Péter agreed that the two countries have many similarities in foreign policy and need to increase meetings, exchanges and cooperation at multilateral forums; and agreed that peace, cooperation and development continue to be the common trend of the world, and that disputes need to be resolved by peaceful means on the basis of international law, for the benefit of people of all nations.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked Hungary, as an EU member, to help mobilize the remaining EU countries to soon ratify the Vietnam-EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and to mobilize the EU to soon remove the yellow card on Vietnam's seafood exports.

Regarding the Vietnamese community in Hungary, Minister Szijjártó Péter highly appreciated the community for its diligence, intelligence and good integration with the host country, making positive contributions to the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Minister Szijjártó Péter paid an official visit to Vietnam from March 18 to 19 at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son.

In the morning of the same day, at the talks, the two sides agreed on measures to promote cooperation in many potential areas in the coming period. Among them, the early negotiation and signing of an agreement on repatriation of citizens will create a legal basis to further strengthen cooperation in the field of labor.
