On the afternoon of June 16, the Provincial Red Cross Society held the 4th Executive Committee Conference, term 2022 - 2027, elected additional Executive Committee, Standing Committee and the position of Chairman of the Lao Cai Provincial Red Cross Society, term VII, term 2022 - 2027; reviewed the work of the Society and the Red Cross Movement in the first 6 months of the year, deployed tasks for the last 6 months of the year; summarized the Humanitarian Month 2023.
Attending the conference were Ms. Giang Thi Dung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of a number of provincial departments, branches and sectors.
The conference elected additional members to the Executive Committee, Standing Committee and the position of Chairman of the Lao Cai Provincial Red Cross Society for the 7th term, 2022-2027. Comrade Vu Viet Truong was elected to hold the position of Chairman of the Lao Cai Provincial Red Cross Society for the 7th term, 2022-2027. Before being elected to hold the position of Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Society, Comrade Vu Viet Truong was Vice Chairman of the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Lao Cai Province.
According to the report at the Conference, in the first 6 months of 2023, the Provincial Red Cross Society at all levels has done a good job of advising the Party Committee and the Government to direct and organize key activities such as: the "Humanitarian Tet" movement, "Humanitarian Month", the Campaign "Each organization, each individual is associated with a humanitarian address"; the program "Nutrition for poor children with disabilities"; implementing the Movement "Good people, good deeds - joining hands to build a compassionate community"; voluntary blood donation campaign; humanitarian relief activities... In particular, activities to support livelihoods for poor households and households in difficult circumstances are increasingly practical and effective, attracting more and more participation from organizations, philanthropists and people of all walks of life, promptly helping people in difficult circumstances to rise up in life, contributing to the implementation of the province's social security policy. The total value of humanitarian activities in the province in the first 6 months reached 24,237 billion VND, supporting over 65,628 beneficiaries.
In the spirit of International Humanitarianism, the Provincial Red Cross mobilized cadres, soldiers, members, union members, enterprises, businessmen, production and business households, philanthropists and people in the province to join hands to support the people of Türkiye and Syria with 2.5 billion VND to overcome the consequences of the earthquake.
At the Conference, delegates also spent a lot of time discussing difficulties and obstacles in the work of the Association and the Red Cross movement in the first 6 months of the year; proposing solutions to carry out tasks in the last 6 months of 2023.
Speaking at the Conference, Comrade Giang Thi Dung congratulated Comrade Vu Viet Truong and congratulated the Provincial Red Cross Society on having a new Chairman. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also commended the results achieved by the Provincial Red Cross Society in the first 6 months of the year. Comrade Giang Thi Dung suggested that the new Chairman and all levels of the Red Cross Society continue to pay attention to and review the Resolution's goals, closely follow the situation at the grassroots level to do a good job of forecasting, have a plan to mobilize, support, and be ready for humanitarian situations... pay attention to mobilizing, supporting and helping people and children in mountainous areas. At the same time, effectively implement training work, improve qualifications, capacity, and propaganda and mobilization skills for the staff. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee believes that all levels of the Red Cross Society will promote the achieved results, continue to perform well all assigned tasks in the last 6 months of 2023 and the following years.
At the Conference, the Provincial Red Cross Society also held a farewell ceremony for comrades who stopped participating in the Standing Committee and Executive Committee of the Provincial Red Cross Society, term VII, 2022 - 2027. (photo above).
