Luckily surviving the terrible flash flood, Nguyen Thi Kim and her daughter in Lang Nu village were both seriously injured. Currently, Kim is still undergoing treatment to recover her health. The physical pain and trauma of experiencing the fierce flood have greatly affected the psychology of Kim and her daughter, especially her daughter.

"After being taken to the hospital, my daughter had to undergo many stitches and wound cleanings. She has been haunted and afraid of doctors and strangers since then. Up to now, she is very afraid of contact with other people," Kim shared.

The psychology of Kim and her children was seriously affected after experiencing the terrible flood.

Nearly half a year after the natural disaster in Lang Nu, Dang Thi Nich has never stopped missing her family. Although it is not the custom of the Tay people here, this young mother still makes offerings every day with the thought of making up for her children in some way.

Ms. Nich choked up and shared: "With three meals a day, I'm just afraid that my children will go hungry. Not being able to protect my loved ones and my children is the most regrettable thing. I miss my children more and more each day."

Ms. Vu Thi Tu, Secretary of the Party Committee of Phuc Khanh Commune, Bao Yen District, added: "For families who have lost their loved ones but have found them, their psychology has gradually become more stable. But for those who have not yet found their loved ones or brought them home for burial, their psychology is still very heavy, always filled with anxiety and waiting."

Ms. Dang Thi Nich still cooks offerings every day for her relatives who died in the flood. She never stops missing her loved ones.

According to the expert's assessment after the psychological consultation process, some people in Lang Nu are currently showing signs of post-traumatic stress disorder at a serious level and are in dire need of timely psychological support and therapy.

Dr. Do Nghiem Thanh Phuong, Head of the Department of Social Work for Children and Families, Hanoi National University of Education, said: "If children who experience natural disasters are supported early, they will have a much more stable psychological state later on, for example, their social relationships will improve."

In reality, in addition to material support, psychological and spiritual support for people in disaster areas is also very necessary. Efforts to provide psychological support and mental stability to people who have experienced loss will help them quickly overcome difficulties and restart their lives.
