The delegation was led by former US Ambassador to Vietnam Ted Osius, President and CEO of USABC. Joining the delegation were former US Ambassador to Malaysia, Mr. Brian McFeeters, Senior Vice President and Regional Managing Director of USABC; Mr. Michael Nguyen, Country Director of Boeing Vietnam and Chairman of the Council’s Vietnam Committee; Mr. Vu Tu Thanh, Deputy Regional Managing Director of the Council and Country Representative in Vietnam.
According to USABC, this year’s delegation is particularly significant as the United States and Vietnam celebrate 30 years of normalized relations. Over the past three decades, the partnership has evolved from a burgeoning trade relationship to a thriving, multi-dimensional partnership spanning diplomacy, security, education, and most notably, business and investment.
The delegation brings together representatives of the world's leading US businesses in the fields of information technology, financial services, logistics, manufacturing, energy, aerospace and defense, health care, consumer products, food and agriculture.
This record level of participation reflects the strong confidence of American businesses in Vietnam’s future and the commitment of USABC members to expand trade and investment in this dynamic market. “As Vietnam enters a new chapter with a reformed and streamlined political system, the American business community looks forward to the positive impacts of these changes and exploring the opportunities ahead,” said Mr. Ted Osius.
“This is an important moment, as the Vietnamese government is implementing far-reaching reforms and restructuring initiatives that we believe will spur economic growth, improve the business environment, and create new opportunities for American companies. These reforms align closely with the U.S. administration’s priorities in promoting sustainable supply chains, opening markets to American products, leveling the playing field for American businesses, and strengthening the economic and strategic relationship between the two countries. What the Vietnamese government is doing today will have a lasting impact,” said Mr. Ted Osius.
Amid global trade uncertainties, including the threat of tariffs on Vietnam, there are still great opportunities ahead. The US business community remains steadfastly committed to promoting a stable, mutually beneficial trade relationship. This record-breaking delegation affirms the long-standing partnership between the US and Vietnam. "Building on the achievements of the past 30 years, we are excited to explore new opportunities, promote sustainable growth, and build the next chapter in our economic relationship," the former US Ambassador to Vietnam said.
During the 3-day working trip to Vietnam, the US business delegation will meet with Party and State leaders, learn about the manufacturing scene in Vietnam, celebrate the 30th anniversary of Vietnam-US relations, and a number of other activities.
