Marking a new phase of cooperation between Vietnam and Francophonie and the French Republic

National Secretary of the French Communist Party Fabien Roussel affirmed that the official visit to France from October 3 to 7 by General Secretary and President To Lam is of great significance, marking a new phase of cooperation between Vietnam and the Francophone world and the French Republic, and is also an important occasion for Vietnam to demonstrate its active role and contribute more to the common efforts to build a world of peace and equitable development.

From October 3 to 7, General Secretary and President To Lam led a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to attend the 19th Francophone Summit and pay an official visit to the French Republic at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron. This is the first time a top Vietnamese leader has attended the Francophone Summit. On this occasion, National Secretary of the French Communist Party (PCF) Fabien Roussel gave an interview to a reporter from Nhan Dan Newspaper based in France, saying that the visit has special significance for the friendly and cooperative relationship between the two countries, as well as between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the French Communist Party. Comrade Fabien Roussel emphasized: This is a very good thing. The Francophone Summit is an important time to further strengthen cultural ties between the two peoples. French is the language of invaders, and also the language of liberation. President Ho Chi Minh, like other leaders and poets of liberated peoples, showed through his writings that French could be a language of freedom and revolution.

Today, French culture and language carry such a contrasting world history. Participation in the Summit is an excellent way for Vietnam to affirm its attachment to a part of that history. It is also a message of the future, created by cooperation and solidarity between peoples. For the relationship between France and Vietnam, in fact, achieving a Strategic Partnership covering political, technological and cultural aspects, in addition to economic agreements, is a promising step forward for the relationship between France and Vietnam. This will contribute to the common efforts for peace, cooperation and sustainable development, 10 years after the first strategic partnership agreements were signed between our two countries. The international community highly appreciates Vietnam's outstanding achievements over the past years in all fields. Vietnam, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, has also made many contributions to the common efforts to build a world of peace and equitable development. Referring to this recognition, PCF National Secretary Fabien Roussel emphasized: Vietnam's strong rise after decades of war and its efforts to develop its economy and society are truly exceptional. This is a typical example of a nation united even in times of war, as well as in times of peace and national reconstruction. In particular, in a developing world, there is a constant interest of Vietnam in contributing to regional and world peace. I would like to talk about the "Vietnamese bamboo" foreign policy that combines flexibility and steadfastness.
