According to Ho Chi Minh's ideology, unity is strength, the source of victory and success. In his Testament, President Ho Chi Minh's first concern was to talk about the Party, first of all the issue of unity within the Party. He affirmed: "Thanks to close unity, wholeheartedly serving the working class, serving the People, serving the Fatherland, since its founding, our Party has united, organized and led our People to enthusiastically fight, advancing from one victory to another."
As researchers have pointed out, President Ho Chi Minh's ideology of national solidarity and building a great national solidarity bloc is very unique, with extremely important theoretical and practical values. Research documents on President Ho Chi Minh also show that he clearly pointed out the principles of national solidarity, which are to believe in the people, rely on the people, work for the people's interests, launch patriotic emulation movements; long-term, broad, close, voluntary, organized, and led solidarity; solidarity on the basis of democratic consultation, sincerity, frankness, and friendliness; solidarity associated with struggle, self-criticism, criticism, and solidarity on the basis of inheriting the tradition of patriotism - humanity - solidarity of the nation. He worked hard to cultivate the great national solidarity bloc, once saying: "Solidarity is an invincible force."
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Trong Phuc (former Director of the Institute of Party History), it was the spirit of solidarity that helped the August Revolution succeed; solidarity helped the resistance win and solidarity will bring Vietnam to new heights of the era. After September 2, 1945, the country faced many difficulties, President Ho Chi Minh and our Party mobilized the people of the whole country to participate in the "Golden Week" and build the "Independence Fund" (in 1945). As a result, in a short time, the people of the whole country donated 20 million dong and 370kg of gold.
This not only helped the young revolutionary government overcome financial shortages but also clearly demonstrated the invincible strength of the masses. President Ho Chi Minh repeatedly affirmed that national affairs are common affairs, and each person must have the responsibility to “shoulder a part”. In his Testament, he once again emphasized the paramount importance of solidarity: “Solidarity is an extremely precious tradition of our Party and People.”
The historical reality of the Vietnamese revolution over the past 79 years has also proven the vitality of Ho Chi Minh's thought on great national unity. Vietnamese history has entered a new page of the era of opening up and integrating with the world, as stated in the Party's Resolutions: "Our country has never had such a foundation, potential, position and prestige as today". The lesson of great national unity in Uncle Ho's thought is increasingly relevant when many issues need the joint efforts and consensus of all the people.
Create endogenous strength for breakthrough development
As researchers have noted, a burning desire of Uncle Ho was reiterated before he passed away: "Our entire Party and people unite to strive to build a peaceful, unified, independent, democratic and prosperous Vietnam, making a worthy contribution to the world revolutionary cause."
That wish of Uncle Ho is being made to be realized by our Party and People according to the goal of “A rich people, a strong country, democracy, equality, and civilization” on the basis of President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology of great national unity. In Resolution 43-NQ/TW “On continuing to promote the tradition and strength of great national unity, building our country to be increasingly prosperous and happy” of the 8th Conference of the 13th Central Committee, the goal was set: to strongly arouse the spirit of patriotism, the will of national self-reliance, belief, aspiration to contribute and build the country to be increasingly prosperous and happy.
This has been demonstrated in practice. Especially, at a time when the whole country is affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the word "solidarity" has never been mentioned so much and the spirit of national solidarity has once again demonstrated its great strength and effectiveness. It is the spirit of solidarity that is spreading throughout society, just like Uncle Ho's thoughts, that has created more resources, both material and spiritual, for the fight against the pandemic. Reality has shown us the consensus and determination of the whole country in general and the provinces and cities with outbreaks in the fight against the pandemic, pushing back the "Covid-19 enemy" to bring the country and people's lives back to a new normal state, promoting strong acceleration of socio-economic development afterwards.
Recent practice has also shown that studying and following Uncle Ho's ideology on solidarity has made the political system at all levels seem closer to the people, building a working style that respects the people, is close to the people, and is for the people. Promoting the great national solidarity bloc is being implemented by all levels and sectors through many solutions in accordance with Uncle Ho's ideology on "the power of the people's hearts".
As in Hanoi, the government from the city to the grassroots level has focused on directing and effectively solving practical problems affecting people's lives; paying attention to and accepting constructive comments from the people, promptly adjusting inappropriate policies and practices, especially issues of concern such as administrative reform, land management, urban order, site clearance, etc., creating high consensus among the people in implementing new and difficult tasks.
At the same time, promote the role and responsibility of setting an example for cadres and party members, especially leaders. The higher the position, the more exemplary the cadre must be, in order to affirm the leadership role, pioneering spirit, exemplary role of "the superiors first, the subordinates later", "the party members go first, the country follows" of cadres and party members. Strengthen political and ideological education; maintain solidarity and unity within the Party, social consensus and the people's trust in the Party.
Along with that, patriotic emulation movements also promote the spirit of solidarity among the people, especially the campaigns "All people unite to build new rural areas, civilized urban areas", "For the poor - no one is left behind" ... contributing to the implementation of goals and tasks in social security work, building civilized and modern urban areas. In particular, it has gathered all people, aroused and strongly promoted the spirit of patriotism, self-reliance, self-reliance, joining hands, and unanimously realizing the aspiration for development.
In the sacred Testament that he left behind, there were 3 paragraphs with about 140 words talking about “unity”, affirming three major viewpoints: “Thanks to close unity, wholeheartedly serving the working class, serving the People, serving the Fatherland, since its founding, our Party has united, organized and led our People to enthusiastically fight from one victory to another”; “Unity is an extremely precious tradition of the Party and of our people. Comrades from the Central Committee to the Party cells need to preserve the unity and unanimity of the Party as if preserving the apple of their eye”; “In the Party, practicing broad democracy, regularly and seriously self-criticizing and criticizing is the best way to consolidate and develop the unity and solidarity of the Party. There must be comradely love for each other”.
