Roads and alleys are invested in concrete, airy, clean and beautiful; poor households are supported with housing, job conversion... contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of the Khmer people in Phu My. That result is also from the implementation of projects under the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas for the period 2021 - 2030 (National Target Program 1719).
From 2022 to present, Phu My commune has disbursed housing support for 65 households, supported job conversion for 29 households and supported domestic water for 29 households (VND 3 million each). Also from the capital of the National Target Program 1719, the commune has built 2 rural traffic projects with a total investment of more than VND 3.6 billion.
The family of Mr. Thach Kim Choang is one of the poor households in Dai Ui hamlet, Phu My commune, which was considered by the local authorities to support 44 million VND to build a house; 10 million VND from the career conversion support program. Mr. Choang excitedly said: “My family is a poor household, and I am very happy to receive support from the State and local authorities to build a new, spacious house. With the career conversion support, I bought a motorbike to use as a means of transportation to work, and I earn a few hundred thousand VND a day. My family can work with peace of mind to raise our children who are studying at university.”
Lieu Khenl from Bung Coc Hamlet, Phu My Commune was excited to receive housing support and a career change. Lieu Khenl said: “My main job is a construction worker, so I often have to rent tools for work. Thanks to the local support for a mortar mixer, I saved money on renting tools, thereby increasing my income. In addition, because my family is poor, the local government supported me with 44 million VND, so I worked hard to build a more spacious house for my family. This is the concern of the Party and State for ethnic minorities, and at the same time is a great source of encouragement for me and my family.”
Mr. Vo Van Vu, Chairman of Phu My Commune People's Committee said: "The National Target Program 1719 has been and is being implemented, which is really an important driving force in promoting the development of various fields. Up to now, the project of diversifying livelihoods, developing poverty reduction models, with a total capital of 440 million VND, has been implemented for 11 households; the project of developing production, improving nutrition and developing production, with a total capital of 605 million VND, has been implemented for 15 households; the project of supporting production development according to the value chain, with a total capital of more than 1 billion VND, has been implemented for 26 households".
In recent times, Phu My has focused on investing in building essential infrastructure, mobilizing resources, integrating investment capital sources to build, upgrade rural traffic systems, irrigation works, and develop production... Thanks to that, the rural appearance of the commune in the difficult area has been increasingly improved. Up to now, over 13km of commune and inter-commune roads have been concreted, all hamlet and inter-hamlet roads have been hardened, and the road from the commune center to the district has been asphalted.
In particular, the model "Lighting up the countryside" has brought practical results in the emulation movement "The whole country joins hands to build new rural areas" in Phu My. Up to now, there are 6 models of lighting up the countryside in 6/7 hamlets, about 16km long, with nearly 750 light bulbs lit, the total implementation cost is nearly 920 million VND. Of which, there are 4 solar energy models including 231 light bulbs, nearly 7km long in the hamlets of Phu Tuc, Bung Coc, Soc Xoai and Ta Bien.
Mr. Ma Luong Thien, Head of Ta Bien Hamlet, Phu My Commune shared: Previously, the inter-hamlet road was narrow, muddy in the rainy season, and dark at night, making people always worried about coming home late at night because the road was potentially dangerous. But since the electricity was installed, the image of the roads leading to the hamlet has changed completely at night, not only making it convenient for us to travel, exercise, and reduce traffic accidents, but also ensuring security and order in the hamlet, and traffic accidents have decreased significantly.
Mr. Thach Minh Lay, Vice Chairman of Phu My Commune, said: The above achievements are thanks to the drastic direction of Party committees and authorities at all levels to synchronously and effectively implement the State's programs and projects. The commune's traffic is asphalted and concreted to ensure convenient car travel all year round. The number of schools with national standard facilities is 3/4 schools; 7/7 hamlets meet the cultural hamlet standards and have community activity houses and basic sports areas to ensure serving the cultural and sports needs of the people; solid and semi-solid houses account for 89%; there are no more temporary or dilapidated houses. People's income by 2023 will reach 57 million VND; there will be 6 multidimensional poor households (accounting for 0.15%); trained workers will reach 71%; households using clean and hygienic water will reach 99.7%; 100% of households have regular and safe access to electricity.
The changes in Phu My today are concrete evidence of the correct policies and guidelines of the Party and State, with the attention of the Party Committee and the government, the solidarity, joint efforts, and common hearts, helping the Khmer people in Phu My have conditions to settle down, work, produce, develop the economy, and improve their lives.
