The President visited and listened to the introduction of Viettel's high-tech industrial products at Hoa Lac High-Tech Park and worked at the Group's headquarters.
The meeting was attended by members of the Party Central Committee, leaders of the Office of the President, and leaders of the Ministry of National Defense. Also attending were Viettel's affiliated units in 63 provinces and cities and 10 international markets participating online.
Expressing his joy and honor to welcome the President to visit and work, Major General Tao Duc Thang, Chairman and General Director of Viettel Group, emphasized that this is a great source of encouragement for the entire Group's staff to strive to best fulfill their assigned tasks.
In 2023, Viettel's revenue will reach over VND172 trillion, up 5.4%; contributing nearly VND39 trillion to the state budget. Over the past three years, the pre-tax profit/revenue ratio has been over 25%. Viettel has invested in 10 markets in 3 continents, of which 7 markets are number one in telecommunications market share.
Viettel has built two national-scale infrastructures: First is the ultra-broadband telecommunications infrastructure with 5 domestic fiber optic cable trunks; 3 international fiber optic cable trunks to China, Laos, Cambodia on land; 4 submarine fiber optic cables connecting Asia, Europe and America; nearly 100,000 broadcasting stations, including more than 55,000 4G stations covering 98% of Vietnam's population. Second is the digital infrastructure with 5G network present in 63 provinces and cities; IoT infrastructure connecting all things, 13 DC data centers, the largest in Vietnam.
Viettel accompanies the Government in implementing the National Digital Transformation Program on all three pillars of Digital Government, Digital Economy and Digital Society. In 2023, based on Vietnam's database and Vietnamese language, Viettel built a Vietnamese virtual assistant for Vietnamese civil servants. In 2024, the Group aims to build a Vietnamese virtual assistant for every Vietnamese citizen.
In particular, Viettel is the core of building Vietnam's high-tech defense industry complex; mastering telecommunications network infrastructure equipment on all 4 network layers to help ensure information safety and security. Viettel has completed research, produced the 5G product ecosystem and successfully tested it on the network, ready for commercialization in 2024, putting Vietnam in the top 5 first countries to master 5G technology. Viettel has also successfully researched 2/3 of the chip sets for 5G infrastructure.
Viettel has also researched and produced more than 50 types of products in 10 high-tech technical equipment and weapons sectors, following the most modern C5ISR combat model in the world, suitable for the needs and combat conditions of the Army, some of which have more advanced and modern combat and technical features than similar products in the world. These products both ensure safety and help save tens of thousands of billions of VND for the State budget.
To date, Viettel owns 136 patents in Vietnam and 30 patents in the United States. All projects and inventions are independently developed by Vietnamese experts from research to manufacturing, not only saving thousands of billions of VND in research and production costs but also ensuring operational secrecy and information security, which determines the effectiveness of the country's defense system.
Viettel contributes to the formation of the cyber security industry in Vietnam, sets the mission of building a healthy cyberspace for people to live more safely and is currently the number one information security service provider in Vietnam.
At the meeting, President Vo Van Thuong listened to a number of Viettel units abroad reporting on their business results with many remarkable achievements. The President sent words of encouragement and greetings to the officers and employees and hoped that the units would continue to make efforts to do business effectively abroad, contributing to the development and brand of the Group as well as the country.
On the occasion of the New Year of Giap Thin 2024, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, President Vo Van Thuong sent the best New Year wishes to all leaders, commanders, officers, soldiers, and employees of Viettel Group.
Sharing his impressions after visiting and listening to the introduction of Viettel's products as well as the results of the Group's production and business activities in recent times, the President assessed: Viettel is truly the leading economic group of the country, a model of a State-owned enterprise operating under the market mechanism, doing business creatively and effectively, pioneering in the fields, especially telecommunications, information technology and high-tech defense industry. Viettel has become the most valuable telecommunications brand in Vietnam and number one in Southeast Asia, number 9 in Asia.
The Group plays an active role and is a factor in the telecommunications boom in Vietnam, contributing to the universalization of mobile phones and providing internet services; contributing to the formation of Vietnam's electronics industry, mastering the 5G field and moving towards 6G...
With the important achievements, the President assessed that after nearly 35 years of construction and development, Viettel's staff and workers always uphold the spirit and will to rise up, daring to take on difficult and challenging tasks. "The Group can proudly talk about the Viettel Soldiers, Viettel spirit, Viettel will", the President commented and said that it is the difficulties and challenges that have created Viettel today. After each success, the Group always strives and is more determined.
However, according to the President, the "giant" has the difficulty of a "giant", which is to maintain its position as a leading corporation and continue to develop. The President hopes that Viettel must always maintain its role as the country's leading economic corporation; must become a model of a state-owned enterprise.
"We must maintain our offensive spirit, be ready to receive and excellently complete assigned tasks in the spirit of thoroughly understanding the economic viewpoint combined with ensuring national defense and security," said the President.
Noting that in addition to its economic tasks, the President asked Viettel to focus on contributing to the country's foreign affairs activities. With its core role in building a high-tech defense industrial complex, the Group needs to focus on researching and producing high-tech weapons and equipment suitable for combat targets and high-tech contexts.
The President also suggested that the Group should continue to maintain its pioneering role in creating digital government, digital society and digital economy; research and manufacture telecommunications equipment, focusing on telecommunications network equipment; develop tools and solutions to ensure network security and cyber operations, focusing on protecting information safety and security in cyberspace, contributing to maintaining political security and social order and safety, including the issue of maintaining national sovereignty in cyberspace.
The President requested the Group to continue to promote overseas investment in telecommunications as well as provide export services to the world, contributing to promoting the country and people of Vietnam as dynamic and creative, with advanced science and technology in a number of fields. Production and business activities must ensure high efficiency, while at the same time being associated with social responsibility, respect for the law, and constantly improving the material and spiritual life of workers.
Pleased to see Viettel's current young, dynamic, efficient and highly qualified human resources, the President suggested that the Group continue to train a team of intelligent and courageous human resources capable of researching, applying and mastering science and technology in all situations, contributing to Viettel and the country.
The President also noted that the Group should pay attention to the work of building a truly clean and strong Party Committee and Party organizations; exemplary commanders for officers and soldiers to follow; and the collective Party Committee and leadership should be the spiritual support for officers and soldiers to successfully complete assigned tasks.
