This is the wish and trust of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha sent to the Party Committee, government, army and people of Dak Lak province at the Ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Buon Ma Thuot Victory, liberating Dak Lak province (March 10, 1975 - March 10, 2025), a major historical milestone opening the victory of the Central Highlands Campaign and the Great Spring Victory of 1975, held in Buon Ma Thuot City, on the morning of March 10.
Pride of the army and people of all ethnic groups in Dak Lak province
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha affirmed that the Central Highlands in general, and Dak Lak in particular, is a land with a rich cultural and historical tradition, playing a particularly important strategic role in terms of economy, politics, culture, society, environment, national defense, security and foreign affairs of the whole country; considered the roof of the three Indochinese countries.
With its important strategic position, in March 1975, the Politburo and the Central Military Commission decided to choose Buon Ma Thuot as the opening battle, the acupoint, the breakthrough, the strategic decisive battle, the "starting shot" for the 1975 Spring General Offensive and Uprising, culminating in the historic Ho Chi Minh campaign, completely liberating the South and unifying the country.
That victory ended 30 years of struggle for independence and freedom, completing the national democratic revolution nationwide. The country was reunited, North and South were reunited.
The triumphant song of the 1975 Central Highlands Victory and the Buon Ma Thuot Victory will always be the pride of the army and people of Dak Lak province, of the people of the Central Highlands as well as of the whole country.
After the liberation day, promoting the spirit of Buon Ma Thuot Victory, the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Dak Lak province have strived to overcome countless difficulties and challenges, joining the whole country in entering the period of building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.
Gateway, development driving force of the Central Highlands
Over the past 50 years, Dak Lak province has achieved many great and important achievements in the fields of socio-economic development, firmly ensuring national defense and security, Party building, building a comprehensive strong political system, becoming one of the gateways and driving forces for development of the entire Central Highlands region.
The average gross domestic product in the area is 7%/year, the economic scale is expanded; the average income per capita by 2024 is 74.7 million VND/person. The structure of economic sectors is shifting in a positive direction, in the right direction.
The fields of culture, health care, and social security are guaranteed; the quality of education and health care is improved; universities, research institutes, and vocational training facilities in the area are planned, upgraded, and expanded. The infrastructure system is invested synchronously and gradually modernized. Administrative reform and investment environment are improved; the effectiveness and efficiency of management and operation of authorities at all levels are enhanced; political security and social order and safety are basically guaranteed.
The Deputy Prime Minister was moved to share his feelings about the bustling, jubilant atmosphere, the proud look on the faces of every citizen, and the streets decorated with flags and flowers during the historic March days. All of these created the jubilant atmosphere of the victory day exactly 50 years ago.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged and commended the efforts and achievements of the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Dak Lak province in the past time. This is a solid basis for believing that, with the attention and facilitation from the Central Government and other localities, Dak Lak will continue to transform strongly, develop faster and more sustainably.
Development in harmony with conservation and promotion of environmental, natural and cultural values
The Deputy Prime Minister stated that the Buon Ma Thuot Victory to liberate Dak Lak province initiated resounding victories and the Great Victory of Spring 1975 opened a new era - an era of peace, independence, unity, freedom, prosperity and happiness for our people, our mountains and rivers, our country.
After 50 years, the country is entering a new era - an era of rising up to develop richly and prosperously. The spirit of Buon Ma Thuot Victory needs to be strongly promoted on the economic, cultural, educational and social science fronts, so that Dak Lak can develop quickly and sustainably, worthy of its central position and main driving force of the Central Highlands.
In the coming time, Dak Lak must continue to preserve and foster unity, purity and strength within the Party Committee and the entire political system, creating consensus among all classes of people to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, the Resolution of the 17th Dak Lak Provincial Party Congress; successfully direct and organize Party Congresses at all levels, the 18th Provincial Party Congress towards the 14th National Party Congress.
Focus on completing the organization of the political system to be streamlined, operate effectively and efficiently according to Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW; build a team of truly pioneering, exemplary, dynamic, creative cadres who dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility in performing tasks; develop and attract high-quality human resources to work in the province...
Continue to promote the strength of great solidarity and the spirit of national harmony to meet the requirements of innovation, integration and development, ensure national defense and security, and firmly protect border sovereignty.
Second, focus on innovating the economic model; developing in harmony with preserving and promoting environmental, natural and cultural values with new thinking and vision towards green economy, circular economy, synchronous and smart infrastructure.
In particular, it is necessary to exploit the unique advantages of climate, fertile land, natural resources (sun, wind, forestry), cultural resources, and people to develop with four main growth pillars: Advantageous, large-scale, high-quality agricultural and forestry products associated with processing; renewable energy production, digital economy - infrastructure conditions for promotion and investment attraction; urban economy - new development driving force, adapting to climate change; services - logistics - tourism.
Harmoniously resolve the relationship between land, water and forest to both develop and preserve the pristine, rich and unique natural values of the Central Highlands.
Enhance the competitiveness of the investment environment based on digital government, for the people, smart, effective and efficient; take advantage of being the training and scientific research center of the Central Highlands region to promote research, transfer (R&D), application of science and technology in socio-economic development.
Third, protect, preserve and sustainably promote the unique cultural values of the community of 49 ethnic groups, the cradle of Vietnamese epics. Form more cultural spaces, including the indispensable "Central Highlands Gong Cultural Space" recognized by UNESCO as an oral masterpiece, communal houses, etc.; restore more festivals, traditional craft villages, performing activities, the immortal epic legends of Dam San and Xinh Nha; heroic relics preserving historical marks and revolutionary movements of many previous generations.
"Dak Lak needs to develop sustainable tourism based on the values of natural heritage, culture, production life, activities, and unique cuisine of the Central Highlands ethnic communities to achieve the dual goal: Preserving and promoting heritage values and making tourism a key economic sector, improving income and living standards for the people," said the Deputy Prime Minister.
Fourth, Dak Lak needs to promote links with localities in the Central Highlands, South Central Coast and Southeast regions; promote its role as a connecting center for the Central Highlands region in industry, logistics, training, scientific research, healthcare, high-tech agriculture, etc.
Continue to develop synchronous and modern infrastructure, especially intra-regional and inter-regional transport infrastructure, connecting neighboring provinces in the Central Highlands, the Central coastal region, and the Southeast region.
Building Buon Ma Thuot city to truly be a central urban area, a gateway of the Central Highlands region integrating with the region and the world; a green, ecological, smart city, a model identity of an urban area with distinct values, linking culture with nature, adapting to climate change.
Fifth, combine economic development with social security so that people can enjoy a quality life with good social services, a secure environment, job opportunities and high income. Pay attention to and take care of families with preferential policies, war invalids, sick soldiers, and people with revolutionary contributions.
Promoting the glorious historical tradition along with the great achievements after 120 years of the province's establishment and 50 years of the Buon Ma Thuot Victory, the Deputy Prime Minister hopes and believes that with the position and role of Dak Lak province as the center of connection, coordination and main growth pole of the Central Highlands region, the Party Committee, government, army and people of all ethnic groups in the province will promote the spirit of the immortal Buon Ma Thuot Victory to enter a new era of prosperous, prosperous and happy development.
