BTO-The Provincial Irrigation Works Exploitation Company has just issued a flood warning on the downstream of Song Dinh 3 Lake.
Accordingly, the Song Dinh 3 reservoir project in Ham Tan district is designed with a normal water level of +45.95m. However, the reservoir has not yet been compensated, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development only agreed to store water up to +42m to avoid flooding the cultivated area of the people in the reservoir. Therefore, the project currently has a spillway gate, the water flowing into the reservoir will overflow the spillway at +40m.
Meanwhile, currently outside the Philippine sea, Super Typhoon Mawar is approaching the Philippines. This is the strongest typhoon recorded since 2021. Due to the influence of Typhoon Mawar, heavy rain may occur in the province in the coming days.
In case of heavy rain upstream, the amount of water flowing into the reservoir and over the spillway will be large, affecting people along the flood-prone communes in the downstream area. To proactively respond to the development of rain and flood and avoid damage to people in the affected areas, the Company requests the People's Committee of Ham Tan district and the People's Committee of La Gi town to warn people along the Dinh River and have proactive plans to avoid safety.
