Choosing the direction with the strength of clean agricultural products, after more than 4 years of operation, Trung Thanh Organic Agricultural Service Cooperative, Yen Hop Commune, Van Yen District has been successful in producing and supplying safe vegetables, tubers and fruits not only for Van Yen District but also for localities in and outside the province. With an area of 1,600m2 of greenhouse, the Cooperative grows vegetables, tubers and fruits, especially 1,000 Australian unlimited tomato plants, achieving a yield of 7 - 10 kg/plant.
Growing in greenhouses limits pests and does not require the use of pesticides, while applying a drip irrigation system, minimizing the use of chemical fertilizers and saving water. The cooperative also uses the stems and leaves of plants after harvest to compost microorganisms, creating a cycle in production. In addition, the cooperative has expanded to grow 500m2 of cherry tomatoes, combined with a model of sightseeing and picking in the garden, creating an experience space for visitors and reducing the traditional consumption stage. Applying the ecological agricultural farming model not only improves product quality but also protects the environment and the health of consumers.
Ms. Duong Thi Yen - Director of the Cooperative shared: "Because it is grown in a greenhouse environment and produced according to biosafety standards, the yield is high, the harvest time is longer, the price is also higher and more stable. More importantly, we have created clean, safe products to supply to the market and are trusted by consumers."
Binh Thuan Fruit Tree Growing and General Services Cooperative was established in 2017 in Binh Thuan commune, Van Chan district, specializing in producing citrus fruits such as Canh oranges, Sen oranges, Sanh oranges and Vinh oranges on an area of 56 hectares according to VietGAP standards. The cooperative has divided production groups, helping members cultivate on adjacent land areas, overcoming the situation of fragmented production.
Members receive technical support, participate in training courses and visit effective production models. The cooperative's products have been granted a growing area code and achieved 3-star OCOP standards in 2021. From an area of 56 hectares of oranges when it was first established, the cooperative has now developed more than 70 hectares. In 2024, the cooperative will sell more than 600 tons of fruit to the market. The cooperative's products are available in major supermarket chains and are labeled with QR Codes for traceability.
Mr. Nguyen Van Trong - Director of Binh Thuan Fruit Tree Growing and General Services Cooperative said: "Joining the Cooperative, we see the importance of safe and sustainable production. If in the past we just fertilized and sprayed pesticides on the trees based on our feelings, now we have to carefully follow the technical process, ensuring the quarantine period, not only ensuring the productivity and quality of the oranges when sold and food safety for consumers but also protecting the health of us orange growers".
In order to promote collective economic development, the province has issued many practical support policies. Resolution No. 06 dated April 19, 2021 of the Provincial People's Council has proposed a number of policies to support collective economic development in the period of 2021-2025. To date, the Provincial People's Committee has approved support for the establishment of 102 new cooperatives with a total cost of 1.8 billion VND; approved the policy for 18 cooperatives to recruit 18 young workers.
In addition, the province also focuses on training human resources for cooperatives. In the past 2 years, the province has organized many primary training courses for directors, specialized training courses, and periodic seminars for more than 2,000 cooperative leaders and managers. In particular, the province has supported training of personnel for management and technical expertise for nearly 200 cooperatives, with 100% support for tuition fees, study materials, and accommodation costs for students. Thanks to that, cooperatives have developed in both quantity and quality.
Along with the province's support policies, in 2024, the Provincial Cooperative Union proactively coordinated with functional departments, branches, districts, towns, cities, and units under the Vietnam Cooperative Union to participate in activities connecting supply and demand; sharing experiences in production, business, promoting brands, consuming products and goods, forecasting the market situation; promoting over 500 OCOP products and regional specialties of cooperatives; building 5 cooperative models associated with the value chain with a total support value of 250 million VND; supporting 9 products of member units ranked as 3-star and 4-star OCOP; coordinating with the Industrial Promotion Center - Department of Industry and Trade of the province to support 4 cooperatives to invest in machinery and production equipment with an amount of 676 million VND...
According to the leaders of the Provincial Cooperative Union, the unit strengthens information and propaganda on collective economic policies, proactively advises and proposes policies, solutions for collective economic development, provides consulting and support, builds production cooperative models associated with value chains, promotes propaganda of the Law on Cooperatives 2023, thereby promptly conveying policies and directions of the province and the industry to members. Continue to strengthen state management of collective economic policies, improve governance capacity for cooperatives, promote linkages between cooperatives and enterprises and other economic organizations to improve production and business efficiency for cooperatives.
The development of cooperative economy in Yen Bai has been making an important contribution to the socio-economic development of the province. With the attention of authorities at all levels, the efforts of cooperatives and people, and the effective implementation of support policies, the cooperative economy in Yen Bai will continue to develop sustainably, contributing to improving people's lives and promoting local economic development.
