Bayern suffered a crushing defeat on Kane's debut day.

Dani Olmo scored a hat-trick as RB Leipzig crushed Bayern 3-0 in the German Super Cup, as new signing Harry Kane came on in the second half.

Kane arrived in Munich on August 11, and immediately underwent a medical, took over Robert Lewandowski's No. 9 shirt, trained with his new teammates and was registered for the German Super Cup. He replaced 18-year-old striker Mathys Tel in the 64th minute, when Bayern were trailing 0-2. But just four minutes later, the "Gray Tigers" were awarded a penalty and Dani Olmo successfully converted, completing his hat-trick and sealing the score.

Kane made his debut for Bayern, in the German Super Cup against Leipzig.

In nearly half an hour on the pitch, Kane only touched the ball three times, passed it twice, lost the ball once and did not successfully shoot or dribble once.

In front of his home crowd at the Allianz Stadium yesterday, coach Thomas Tuchel put his two expensive new signings, Kane and Kim Min-jae, on the bench. The German coach chose the central defender duo Dayot Upamecano and Matthijs De Ligt, while the attack was a combination of Leroy Sane, Jamal Musiala, Serge Gnabry and Tel.

Bayern got off to a bad start when they conceded a goal in the 3rd minute. From David Raum's free kick, Benjamin Henrichs struggled to get the ball to bounce just enough for Olmo to put his right foot in the corner and beat goalkeeper Sven Ulreich.

In the 44th minute, the Spanish midfielder continued to shine to double the gap. Receiving a pass from Timo Werner, Olmo touched the ball, turned around, eliminated De Ligt and then finished by threading the needle through Ulreich.

Tuchel made three changes at the start of the second half, bringing in Kingsley Coman, Noussair Mazraoui, Kim Min-jae for Konrad Laimer, Benjamin Pavard, De Ligt before giving Kane his debut. But when these changes failed to show any effect, the home team conceded a third goal.

In the 66th minute, Nicolas Seiwald headed the ball into Mazraoui's hand, giving Leipzig a penalty. Bayern players, including Kane, reacted strongly, but VAR did not change the referee's decision. At the 11m mark, Olmo shot low to the left corner. Ulreich dived in the right direction but could not block it.

Olmo is the third player to score a hat-trick in a competitive match against Bayern at the Allianz Arena, after Dusseldorf's Dodi Lukebakio in 2018 and Heidenheim's Robert Glatzel in 2019. Olmo's brilliant form helped Leipzig win their third major trophy in their history, two of which came in their last two games, a 2-0 win over Frankfurt in last season's German Cup final and a win over Bayern.

This result puts Tuchel under continued pressure. After he replaced Julian Nagelsmann at the end of last season, Bayern showed signs of regression when they were eliminated by Freiburg in the quarter-finals of the German Cup, suffered a 1-4 defeat in the two quarter-finals of the Champions League against Man City and only won the Bundesliga in the final round thanks to Dortmund's stumble.

Kane continued to miss out on the first collective title of his career. Previously, the England captain lost in the 2015 and 2021 League Cup finals, the 2019 Champions League final with Tottenham and the Euro 2021 final with England.

In the opening round of the Bundesliga next weekend, Bayern visit Werder Bremen while Leipzig meet Bayer Leverkusen.
