After more than 1.5 years of implementation, there have been more than 9 large and small projects jointly implemented by the two sides nationwide. In particular, the projects “Lighting up the Countryside” and “Promoting Sports” are identified as two key projects that create a solid foundation for the upcoming phase 2.
The next phase will be implemented on a larger scale and with more diversity of projects to attract participation and contributions from local partners and communities in each province where the project is implemented. Thereby contributing to creating greater positive impacts and values for the community, contributing more to the socio-economic development of Vietnam.
Launched in July 2022, “Lighting up the Countryside” is one of two key cooperation projects to support Vietnam’s green growth goals (2021-2023), and the national program on New Rural Development for the period 2021-2025.
In phase 1 of the project, 34 km of roads using solar lights were installed, helping to improve socio-economic infrastructure in rural areas in 34 provinces and cities, providing a safer living environment for more than 210,000 households in the project area, and indirectly supporting thousands of people in neighboring areas.
It is expected that by the end of 2023, an additional 39 km of solar-powered lighting routes will be deployed in 29 provinces and cities, including lighting systems installed at 10 community sports fields in 10 provinces and cities within the framework of the "Sports Step Up" project - phase 1.
In addition, the Central Youth Union also launched the contest "Creative ideas for energy saving and green energy use" to encourage creative ideas from the community and young union members nationwide on safe, economical and efficient energy use, joining hands to protect the environment. The best ideas awarded from the Program will be considered for environmental projects in 2024.
