At the Conference, Lieutenant General Khuat Viet Dung - Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association said that in just the first 2 years of implementing the campaign "Vietnam Veterans participate in maintaining traffic safety and building traffic culture", the provincial and municipal Veterans Associations at all levels have built more than 1,700 traffic safety clusters; 670 self-management groups; more than 2,000 clubs for propagating laws, families managing and educating children about traffic safety and order.

According to Lieutenant General Dung, there have been hundreds of initiatives, models, and advanced examples of traffic safety that have been and are being effectively promoted, receiving enthusiastic participation and response from all levels of the Association and people, students, etc.

These are models of "Self-managed veteran road"; "Veteran group maintaining traffic order and safety", "Safe ferry", "Traffic safety rescue team and group"; "Traffic safety school gate"; "Lighting up the countryside road"; "Railway section taken care of by grandparents and grandchildren"; "Veterans with traffic culture";...

Notably, many typical veterans have contributed thousands of meters of land to build roads, contributed billions of VND and working days to renovate, repair and upgrade rural roads, contributing to beautifying the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers participating in maintaining traffic order and safety and building traffic culture across the country.

On this occasion, the National Traffic Safety Committee and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association awarded 61 groups and 10 individuals with outstanding achievements in maintaining traffic order and safety over the past two years.
