Today, February 17, information from Quang Tri Provincial Police said that in order to evaluate the transfer of the task of operating, exploiting, using, and adjusting traffic light cycles to the traffic police force, the unit conducted inspections and reviews throughout the area. Thereby, it was discovered that on national highways in the province, there were 17 damaged light clusters and some solar-powered light clusters were not operating stably.
Specifically, the works under the management of the Ministry of Transport and the Vietnam Road Administration have: 6 traffic light clusters on National Highway 1 that are operating unstable, including: the intersection of National Highway 1 - National Highway 9 Cua Viet - National Highway 9 North bypass (Thanh An commune, Cam Lo district); the intersection of National Highway 1 - Hai Ba Trung (Quang Tri town); the intersection of National Highway 1 - La Vang Holy Land - Hai Thuong (Hai Thuong commune, Hai Lang district); the intersection of National Highway 1 - Residential area - Cassava factory (Hai Lam, Hai Lang); the intersection of National Highway 1 - Hai Son commune's residential road, Hai Lang district; the intersection of National Highway 1 - National Highway 49B (Hai Chanh commune, Hai Lang district). 1 traffic light cluster on National Highway 9 was damaged due to lightning at the intersection of National Highway 9 - Phan Boi Chau (Cam Lo town, Cam Lo district).

Five traffic light clusters on National Highway 1 under the management of the BOT project are operating unstable, including: National Highway 1 - Hoang Dieu, Dong Ha City; National Highway 1 - Tran Hung Dao - Bui Thi Xuan, Dong Ha City; National Highway 1 - Ly Thuong Kiet, Dong Ha City; National Highway 1 - National Highway 9 bypass South - Thuan Chau, Dong Ha City; National Highway 1 - Nguyen Hue - Huyen Tran Cong Chua, Ai Tu town, Trieu Phong.
The projects managed by the locality have 5 traffic light clusters all located on National Highway 1 that are operating unstable, including: National Highway 1 - DT575A, Gio Linh town; National Highway 1 - Bac Song Hieu urban area, Dong Ha city; National Highway 1 - Le Loi - National Highway 1 bypassing Quang Tri town, Dong Ha city; National Highway 1 - Tran Hung Dao, Quang Tri town; National Highway 1 - DT584 - National Highway 1 bypassing Quang Tri town, Hai Thuong commune, Hai Lang district.
Quang Tri Provincial Police have sent a dispatch requesting the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee to direct the managing units to immediately repair, fix, and replace the power grid of the above-mentioned light clusters to ensure traffic regulation.
Previously, Quang Tri Newspaper reported on the situation of traffic lights in the area being damaged and operating erratically, causing people to feel insecure because of the potential risks of traffic safety. In particular, the solar-powered light clusters often operate unstably, especially during the rainy season. According to a report by the Quang Tri Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, out of 74 traffic light systems in the province, 30 systems use solar energy technology.
