The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has just issued a decision to apply enhanced aviation security control measures for the 2024 Lunar New Year.
Accordingly, from February 6 to February 16, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requires airports, airfields, air traffic service providers, airlines, and aviation service providers to apply level 1 enhanced aviation security control measures.
Particularly from February 10 to February 12, although there is no requirement to increase the number of troops, other measures of level 1 will apply according to regulations.
Agencies and units shall base on regulations to deploy appropriate enhanced aviation security control measures.
Airport authorities are required to notify this content to aviation service providers and foreign airlines operating at airports.
According to the assessment of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, it is forecasted that passenger travel demand during Tet 2024 will increase by about 10-15% compared to Tet 2023, and may even increase dramatically by about 30%.
According to Decree 92/2015 of the Government on Aviation Security, Level 1 enhanced aviation security control is applied in the following cases: There is an important political and social event of the country; There is a complicated political security and social order situation.
According to regulations, airports implementing level 1 aviation security control measures will take the following measures:
Increase the number of aviation security personnel and guards on duty in restricted areas; Check people with handheld metal detectors and perform 7% visual inspection of people, objects, and vehicles entering restricted areas of the airport.
Increase interviews and verification of personal documents when passengers check in for flights and during aviation security checks; Randomly visually check 15% of passengers who have passed through the gate without an alarm; Visually check 15% of carry-on and checked baggage through X-ray machines without suspicious images; Restrict people and vehicles from operating in public areas of the passenger terminal...
Unaccompanied checked baggage will be visually inspected, after being screened before being loaded onto the plane.
In the protection of checked baggage, surveillance by cameras or baggage service staff, aviation security control staff monitor checked baggage from receipt to loading onto the aircraft.
For airline meals, randomly visually inspect 2% of meals and supplies at the aviation security checkpoint before bringing them to the airport.
In public areas, increase the frequency of patrolling the area, increase the frequency of broadcasting on the public address system requesting passengers not to leave their luggage; Monitor public areas of the terminal with cameras and increase the number of aviation security control personnel to monitor.
Make quick reports via hotline daily from units to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam. Aviation security control force, organization protection force adds 20% of the number of personnel compared to the normal duty team to be ready to perform the task .
