At around 3:00 p.m. on June 20, residents of Lien Phu village (Thach Trung commune, Ha Tinh city) were startled by a loud explosion coming from the field, then a fire broke out.
When approaching the scene, people discovered 3 workers electrocuted lying motionless in the middle of the field, so they reported it to the authorities.
Upon receiving the news, the authorities arrived at the scene to carry out rescue and firefighting work.
Three victims were transferred to an ambulance and taken to the emergency room, but one died and the other two suffered from electrical burns. The deceased victim was identified as Mr. Phan Trong S. (born in 1977, residing in Nghe An).
The leader of Ha Tinh Province Electricity Company said that a group of workers were working under a 22KV medium voltage power line, violating the safety distance and were electrocuted.
“We have not yet determined which construction unit caused the fire and explosion. When carrying out construction, they are required to report to the electricity company to ensure safety measures, but the construction unit did not do so. We are coordinating with the police to investigate and clarify,” said the Ha Tinh Province Electricity Company.
Currently, the police are putting out the fire and protecting the scene to clarify the incident.
