On March 15, Khanh Hoa Department of Health announced the conclusion of the inspection and supervision of the admission and treatment of food poisoning patients in Nha Trang City.
Tram Anh Chicken Rice Restaurant is currently closed.
According to the announcement, on March 14, Khanh Hoa Department of Health established an inspection and monitoring team. Through discussion and exchange of the monitored units, Dr. Trinh Ngoc Hiep (Deputy Director of the Department of Health) requested that medical examination and treatment facilities in the province be ready to receive and treat new cases related to the above incident, if any, continue to care for and treat patients, and proactively monitor closely the cases being treated inpatients and outpatients at the unit.
When there is an unusual or severe case, it is necessary to promptly consult with Khanh Hoa General Hospital to find the best treatment solution for the patient, avoiding delay so that the patient becomes seriously ill, beyond the professional capacity of the unit.
In the treatment, the Department of Health initially proposed a treatment orientation towards infection and gastrointestinal poisoning caused by Salmonella group agents with the earliest antibiotic susceptibility test results from Vinmec Nha Trang International General Hospital to consider the selection of appropriate antibiotics. Continue to monitor the disease progression and update specific test results of each patient to adjust appropriate clinical indications.
The Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Health also requested the Food Safety and Hygiene Department to coordinate with the Medical Centers and Health Departments of districts, towns and cities to continue epidemiological investigations, investigate and trace the cause of poisoning, cut off the source of infection, strengthen communication and education for people to eat hygienically during the hot season, and check and inspect cold foods, processed foods and fast foods in the area.
Food poisoning patient due to eating chicken rice is treated at Saigon - Nha Trang General Hospital
As reported by Thanh Nien , the number of victims in the suspected food poisoning case due to eating food at Tram Anh chicken rice restaurant on Ba Trieu street, Nha Trang city has now exceeded 200 people.
Of these, 157 cases were hospitalized at 12 hospitals and medical centers in Khanh Hoa province, of which 2 have been discharged, leaving 155. The remaining 55 cases were examined by medical facilities, prescribed medication, and sent home for outpatient monitoring.
Khanh Hoa Province Department of Health said that most of the victims being treated have stable vital signs. Some victims also have symptoms of nausea, fever, frequent loose stools, and intermittent abdominal pain. Severe cases, the elderly, and children are transferred by medical facilities to Khanh Hoa General Hospital for further treatment.
The Nha Trang City Food Safety Interdisciplinary Inspection Team has requested Tram Anh Chicken Rice Restaurant to stop operating until further notice from the competent authority.
Currently, authorities are testing clinical samples and food samples to determine the cause of the poisoning.
