“The number of countries with direct flights from Russia increased by a quarter by the end of 2023 compared to December 2022. Russian and foreign airlines plan to operate direct flights from the country to 40 destinations in 2024. A year earlier, there were only 32 names on this list,” ATOR said in a statement.
Specifically, Russian citizens can fly directly to Azerbaijan, Algeria, Armenia, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Belarus, Venezuela, Vietnam, Hong Kong (China), Georgia, Egypt, Israel, India, Iraq, Iran, North Korea, Kazakhstan, Qatar, mainland China, Cuba, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Mauritius, Maldives, Morocco, Mongolia, Myanmar, UAE, Oman, Seychelles, Serbia, Syria, Tajikistan, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka and Ethiopia.
A significant event is the launch of direct flights to Georgia, ATOR notes, as it is now possible to fly from dozens of Russian cities to Tbilisi and Batumi.
"Vietnam, Hong Kong (China) and Hainan are destinations of interest to tourists," the Association emphasized.
2023 will see a sharp increase in Russian demand for foreign travel. In the fall of 2023 alone, the number of Russians traveling to major foreign destinations will be around 4.2 million trips, 34% higher than in the same period in 2022.
