On March 9, within the framework of his State visit to the Republic of Indonesia and official visit to the ASEAN Secretariat, General Secretary To Lam attended the announcement ceremony of the direct flight route Ho Chi Minh City - Denpasar (capital of Bali, Indonesia) organized by Vietnam Airlines.
This is Vietnam Airlines' second route connecting Vietnam and Indonesia, bringing the airline's total number of flights between the two countries to 14 per week.
In the first phase, from June 1, 2025, Vietnam Airlines will operate direct flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Denpasar with a frequency of 4 round trips per week on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
From July 2025, the airline will increase the frequency to 7 round trips per week. Flights are operated by Airbus A321 aircraft, providing a comfortable and convenient experience for passengers.

At the ceremony, Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Denny Abdi welcomed the move to restore Vietnam Airlines' direct flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Denpasar, helping to increase the number of tourists between the two countries and opening up many opportunities and opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in many different fields. In particular, Ho Chi Minh City is the economic center of Vietnam and Denpasar is a favorite destination for foreign tourists.
Mr. Dang Ngoc Hoa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Airlines, said that for many years, the Indonesian tourism market has always been considered the largest in Southeast Asia with the fourth largest population in the world. The total number of air passengers traveling between Vietnam and Indonesia will reach more than 800,000 in 2024, an increase of 61% compared to 2019.
Mr. Dang Ngoc Hoa pledged to continue developing future routes by seeking and expanding cooperation opportunities with airlines, partners, and customers in the Indonesian market. Vietnam Airlines will plan to increase operating frequency and improve service quality at all touch points.

On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between Vietnam Airlines and the Indonesian Association of Travel Agents (ASTINDO); and a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between Saigontourist Group and Golden Rama Tourism Company, Indonesia.
