The year 2025 marks an important turning point as the IAI Work Plan Phase IV (2021-2025) enters its final year of implementation and ASEAN is actively preparing to develop the IAI Work Plan Phase V (2026-2030).

At the meeting, the IAI Task Force agreed to add four more projects from China, Japan and Australia to become IAI projects, bringing the total number of projects implemented in the Phase IV Work Plan to 99, reaching 70.8% of the action lines in all five strategic areas.

In the coming time, the IAI Task Force agreed to continue to step up the search for funding partners for project proposals, especially in the remaining action lines in the Phase IV Work Plan, and to develop the next phase of the IAI Work Plan.

The Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI) was adopted by ASEAN countries in 2000 with the aim of narrowing the development gap among ASEAN countries, supporting new members (initially Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and in 2024 Timor Leste will become IAI beneficiaries) to fully integrate into the region.
